The cabin is a bright space with rustic accents, vintage florals, and an antique-inspired decor. The cabin and camping spots sit on five acres, overlooking the Middle Oconee River. You can access the river right off the front deck of the house, which is perfect for watching otters, beavers, ducks, blue herons, and turtles. The cabin deck wraps around the side where your views are of my pet deer (Stomps and Company). Paddle or kayak up/down the river using boats stored on the property.

There is an herb and blueberry garden where you can access fresh herbs and berries (when in season) right out the front door

Firstly, we encourage you to meet the deer on the property - they're quite friendly! But please, no eating the deer, and don't throw anything at them. We also ask that you be respectful of all the other wildlife on the property.
We want to keep the cabin clean and tidy for all of our guests, so we kindly ask that you refrain from smoking inside. If you do smoke, please do so outside. Also, please remember to flush the toilet and be mindful when clipping herbs in the garden so as to leave some for the next guest.
Please do not litter in the river.
Not suitable for children under the age of 12 and in the event a child is brought without permission that is cause for immediate cancellation.
The below are NOT requirements, but if you had an amazing time and want to say a little thank you then here's how you can do that:
- Strip the beds and leave sheets in a pile with the towels on the floor (any of the floors it does not matter).

Notes
The house is always treated for pests, but if you have never spent time or lived in the woods then you might not know that bugs still get inside. The house is located directly on the water and you might see a water bug (not to be confused with a cockroach) from time to time inside, so if you will be traumatized by this I recommend the Hilton Garden for your trip. We will have a pest control agent on call although that should not be needed.
The CSX railway right-of-way is about a 5-minute walk from the house, but you will be able to hear the train which comes by 3-4 times per day (sometimes less). The train typically runs between 7-9 am, 12-2 pm, 5-7 pm, and again between 12 am -1 am. If hearing the train is going to cause you stress or mental anguish then check out the Hilton Garden of Athens/ The train is typically 60 seconds or less, but the train conductor is required to blow the horn since he is traveling over the RR Crossing.
There is a family of Red Tail Hawks and a family of Barred Owls that live on the property, so please keep that in mind if you are traveling with a small dog. Hawks have been known to pick up up to 6 lbs, but a hawk does not know the difference between a 6 lb dog and an 8 lb dog. A hawk may not be successful in carrying away a 8-9 lb dog, but they might try and the talons alone would cause significant damage to a dog of that size.
Red Tail Hawk mating season here starts around mid-June and lasts for about 3-4 weeks (past the 4th of July). During this time the hawks are extremely vocal as they court their future partner (hawks pair-bond for life). You can expect that you will hear the male and female hawks screeches as they try to impress one another. The male hawks can be seen taking many flights around the yard to impress the female. If the sounds of the hawks might bother you then please use the ear plugs provided (new) that can be found in the master bedroom closet.
The deer (Stomps and Company) typically give birth around Memorial Day and the deer nurse their fawns for a month after. During this time the female does are very protective of their young, so please keep that in mind. If your dog likes to chase or does not come when called they could stumble upon a fawn bedded down in some thicket which can be dangerous should the mother deer be nearby. I can say that the deer do not mind my dog, but I can not say the same for a dog the deer do not know. Basically, as long as your dogs are on the property and not off into the woods or thicket you shouldn't worry.
