You booked your lodging! Now how the heck do you get to Breckenridge, CO?
Getting to Colorado is your first step! Whether driving, taking the Amtrak train to Denver, or flying you most likely will drive on I-70. A couple of initial things to consider:
First, determine if you "really" need a car in Breckenridge, CO? We have a fantastic transit system and Uber and Lyft are available. Many times your rental unit might even have a shuttle, or even better a private shuttle. We understand those with kids may prefer the rental car router which brings us to our next tip.
The rental car companies will not tell you or in most cases include chains for your car. During a winter snow storm I-70 is often under "traction control" laws. These vary depending on the conditions which could include mandatory four wheel drive, tire chains or snow socks, studded tires, or other various requirements. Most rentals cars do not meet these requirements and you can be fined for traveling in a storm without them, if you cause a traffic incident. So do your research and know we have storms in the mountains from October through May, and sometimes longer!
So you arrived at Denver International Airport, sorry about the construction, and got your luggage and skis. If you decided to rent a car, proceed outside to the rental car bus system area and find your company. The rental bus lot is about 10 minute bus ride from the airport.
