Once I listed on Houfy, things changed immediately for me. The Welcome Book PDF with hyperlinks and the on-property Welcome Book are still there. But when the questions come, I no longer have to send a long-winded reply with links and pictures. I send a quick link to my Story or Guide that answers the question(s).
Here is a good example. Even though it is in my Welcome Book, guest almost always ask me on their first night how to turn on the pool lights. In my “Pool Lights” Story, there is a description AND a picture of the switch. Guest easily get the link in a text and can bring it up on their phone as they search. There is no limit to what you can share with guests in a Story.
Our Welcome Book Guide isn't the only Guide with informational Stories. Anytime I get a question from a guest or potential guest, I evaluate whether that can be a Story or not. Thanks to my guests, I have written Stories on “Water Safety ~Pay Attention,” “Time to Kill Before Check-In,” and many more.
These Stories have led to more Guides to organize these Stories as well. Our Storm Watchers Only Guide has links in Stories to NOAA's “5-Day Tropical Weather Outlook,” “Weather Updates You Can Count On,”, “Travel Insurance -Before It's Too Late.”
A Day at the Beach Guide focuses on beach safety and beach interest articles with Stories on “Beach Rules and Ordinances,” “Why You Are Better at the Beach,” and "Using the Weather for Perfect Photos at the Beach."
The main reason for writing Stories and putting them in Guides available to the public goes beyond helping my guests. It gives me an opportunity to advertise that we are a great place for families that provide so many amenities for them. It also gets our home out there in the digital world for others to find and hopefully some day book a week.
A researcher recently found my Story on “What Color is the Vacation of Your Dreams?” I saw an article on the effects of color on mood and it made me think. This is a great reason to visit Tiki House! People love our interior as much as they love our views! The researcher would never have visited a vacation rental home site to do her research, but there she was! She may never rent my home, but perhaps the next time she is in the market for a rental vacation home, she may come back to Houfy and rent YOURS!
If you don't like to write, just make a Guide, link an article or another owner's Story or Guide and you have a start! Make a Guide, write a Story, add it to your Guide, and get noticed!
For more information on Guides and Stories, visit my Guide for Houfy Owners, where I collect a lot of useful information for myself and others to reference. All my Guides are there for you to use. What helps you, helps me! Check out our Guides, Stories and our listing for Tiki House Pensacola Beach!
I don't mind if people want to use my information to help them get started. But this is the Why for me. I will write a How for me too! I hope it helps.
