Austin has worked hard over the years to pretty much perfect the tacos. We have tacos for every meal and for every taste - breakfast tacos, meat tacos, vegetarian and vegan tacos, tacos on corn, wheat, flour or spinach tortillas...the list goes on. Here are some of our favorites from around town:
Breakfast tacos
Breakfast tacos typically have eggs and other stuff in them. My parents thought it was crazy when they first visited, but breakfast tacos always win people over. The true test is migas tacos - these are filled with a combo of egg, crispy tortillas, pico de gallo and chiles, topped with cheese. It's divine. Try them here:
Tyson's Tacos: Eat in or take out here. Tyson's has a nice porch to sit on, and a variety of unusual combos for breakfast tacos, although you can get the classics, too. http://www.tysonstacos.com/menu
Tex Mex Joe's: I don't think you'll find Tex Mex Joe's on many lists, but they have the most delicious breakfast tacos. The corn tortillas are light and fluffy, and the migas are excellent. I think they use queso rather than cheese. Yum. https://www.tex-mex-joes-n-lamar.com
Mi Madre's: This is the most classic place to get tacos. Mi Madre's has a nice seating area, and excellent tacos. https://www.mimadresrestaurant.com/
Lunch and dinner tacos
Obviously. Each of these places also has breakfast tacos, but they're not my favorite. However, for later in the day, they're excellent.
Taco Deli: Several locations, and I've never had a bad lunch here. Most locations are only open until 3 pm. www.tacodeli.com
Torchy's: I find their breakfast tacos pretty greasy, but I love their lunch and dinner. I order the Mr. Orange. www.torchystacos.com
