Notes
About the Cottage-
Feel free to request a special offer for shorter or longer stays that don't quite fit the airbnb pricing calendar.
We like comfortable chairs to relax in watch a movie or television. We love having a dishwasher to get our dishes clean and a nice bathtub to have a soak. We think you will too. Check out our pictures and see if you don't agree that we prioritize comfort above all. Oh yes price... We think we our cottage is a great value.
The River Cottage was the first privately owned home in Westfir built by Harry in the 1920's. Grandpa Harry was a saw filer for the Westfir Lumber Company- later purchased by Hines- He hand selected the best lumber from the mill and built most of the house himself. When we had the new windows put in the workers were amazed how square and straight the opening were. Harry and Mildred raised two children in the this small home. They were simple people who had lived through the depression and rarely threw anything away. Harry had a large garden and Mildred canned or froze the produce. Their son James was the first in the family to attend college in Eugene at UofO. After graduation he came back to Westfir and worked as a manager for the mill eventually becoming mill manager.
From the time our kids were little they just loved coming up to the cottage. One of our favorite pastimes in sitting on the front porch and watching the many bikers and motor-bikers go by. It's a great spot to watch the traffic go by.
