The loft is inserted in the privileged historical centre of Porto, classified as World Heritage of Humanity.
Right in front of the loft, you have the Cathedral of Porto and a short walking distance the famous railway station of S. Bento with its´ breathtaking sceneries painted on tiles (Azulejos).
Located in the heart of Porto, one of the oldest cities in Europe and the capital of northern Portugal, Skylight Loft is a short walking distance from some of the most iconic symbols of the city. The Loft is on top of a century building that is part of UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the magnificent Cathedral of Porto, dated from the early 13th century and the medieval city walls, the iconic D. Luís Bridge, and the famous railway station of S. Bento with its impressive scenes painted on Portuguese tiles, known as Azulejos. Strolling in the traditional and picturesque streets and alleys that reflect the soul of the city and its inhabitants is an invitation for everyone who wishes to dip in the essence of authentic Portugal.
After a long renovation period, the building in Rua Saraiva de Carvalho, no.12, was preserved with its original façade and historic details.
Entering the Loft, our guests are welcomed by a warm and exquisite atmosphere created by the perfect Ensemble: the impressive skylight, architectural masterpiece of the place, unique and vibrant artworks, and the well-maintained and regularly tuned grand piano that has been in the family for more than a century.
Skylight Loft provides a perfect balance between spacious living areas and a warm atmosphere that instantly gives everyone a homey feeling. It was designed ideally for comfortably accommodating two people, even though another two can sleep on a double sleeping sofa. A generous and cosy bathroom is at our guests’ disposal.
Opening the large sliding doors that lead out to the terrace, one will be delighted with the fascinating view over old Porto, including some of the most remarkable monuments of the city, as well as with the colourful street-scene that results from a unique mingling of tradition and modernity, personified in contemporary art galleries, prestigious theatres and music halls, a wide and versatile gastronomy offer, and an exciting nightlife.
Staying at Skylight Loft also gives our guests the comfort of a home and the peace and quietness they deserve for a relaxing and restful break right in the heart of the city. Enjoying a freshly cooked meal in the loft can also be a highlight as all ingredients can be bought in the daily market opposite the loft building or in the traditional grocery store round the corner. Pairing the meal with some of the most exquisite wines from Douro Valley is a must.
