In the heart of the historic port of Catania, this bright, spacious, first-floor apartment has every modern convenience for families and friends who want to explore this fascinating city.

With a charming, old-fashioned exterior, the inside of the apartment could not be more different. It is stylish and modern, with pale wooden floors and spacious, light-filled rooms. It can sleep up to 8 people in comfort. The contemporary furniture is mixed with some attractive antique pieces. A corridor runs down the middle of the apartment and the rooms all lead off this.

The living room has a comfortable sofa, a flatscreen TV and French windows leading out onto the gallery balcony. The separate, fitted, kitchen is at the end of the corridor. It is well-equipped with a cooker hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and a Nespresso machine. There is a dining table with 6 chairs in the kitchen for casual dining.

Sleeping
Bedroom 1: A sunny bedroom with a double bed and a separate single bed and a charming, dark wood wardrobe.
Bedroom 2: A spacious bedroom with a double bed, single bed, large wooden wardrobe and French windows leading out to the balcony that runs along the side of the apartment.
Bedroom 3: This bedroom has an elegant metal bedstead for the double bed, side tables with reading lights and a contemporary mirrored wardrobe.

Bathrooms
Bathroom 1: A separate bathroom, close to bedroom #1. This bright bathroom is equipped with a bath with a shower, basin, bidet and WC
Bathroom 2: This bathroom, with fresh white tiling, has a glass shower cabinet, basin, bidet, WC and washing machine.

Location
This apartment could not be more central. It is just 300 meters from the beautiful gardens of the Parco Vincenzo Bellini and the ancient Roman amphitheatre. It is just a 10-minute walk from the fascinating port area and a 13-minute walk from the Piazza del Duomo, with its famous Fontana dell’Elefante. The Duomo di Catania is a majestic Norman cathedral. Another relic of Sicily’s Norman past is the Castello Ursino (20 minutes walk), an impressive castle in the centre of the city, which houses an excellent museum and art gallery.

Like all Italians, the Sicilians are passionate about food. The people of Catania can enjoy some of the best restaurants in Sicily. Here you can try local specialities such as arancini, cannoli, lemon sorbet and wonderful seafood. Unique to Catania are the “cioscu”, little kiosks all over the city serving refreshments in the hot summer months. The most famous are in the Piazza Umberto (5 minutes walk).

If you need to get out of the city for a day, the Park of Etna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, (55 min drive) offers excellent hiking all year round, including hikes up to the peak of the volcano. Or head to the beach and La Playa di Catania (a 35-minute walk). This long, wide sandy beach has beach clubs, snack bars, a water park for children and a clean, blue sea.

Catania’s international airport is just a 20-minute drive from the apartment.
