This cosy cottage, hosted by Salt and City Stays, is ideally located near the market town of Dolgellau, offering direct access to scenic walks like the Mawddach Trail and Cader Idris, the highest peak in Snowdonia. Just 9 miles away, Barmouth’s sandy beach, picturesque harbour, and stunning views of Cardigan Bay await. For a unique experience, take the Talyllyn Steam Train from Tywyn, 20 miles away, and enjoy a scenic journey through ravines and ancient woodland. Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts!
The light and modern kitchen has been designed to maximise the space and a slate floor gives a cool feel in summer and a comforting feel in winter with its heat retention properties. The inviting sofa in the living room is just the place to relax after a day out and about. All four guests can sit at the dining table and enjoy a leisurely breakfast or an evening meal. The family bathroom with shower and WC is located on the ground floor.
There are two double bedrooms upstairs, the first has pretty rural views and the second, a mezzanine bedroom overlooking the living room.
There is a garden with a lovely grassy area at the back of the cottage.
Guests have private access to the cottage. There is a right of way for the neighbours in the cottage garden and they occasionally walk through with their dogs.
Salt & City Stays will be available throughout your entire stay to ensure you have everything you need. The town of Dolgellau, in southern Snowdonia, with its slate-topped cottages and attractive market square, makes an excellent base for walkers and cyclists. The town has a number of pubs, cafes and shops to enjoy including a an excellent wine shop & a tapas restaurant.
For hikers, Cader Idris is more strenuous, but less demanding than climbing Snowdon. The most popular trail is the Ty Nant path, starting just south-east of Dolgellau.
For cyclists, the Mawddach Trail (accessible from the cottage) is a converted railway line meandering along the Mawddach estuary from Dolgellau to the seaside town of Barmouth. The gentle nine-mile trail skirts woodland and a RSPB nature reserve. To the north of the town, Coed y Brenin Visitor Centre, a famous mountain bike centre has trails for all abilities as well as walks, picnic sites and a takeaway service from the café.
It is recommended that guests have access to a car for the duration of their stay.
