Brookings is an artsy, quaint little town on the 101 on the Southern Oregon Coast. The beaches are a huge draw to the area, as well as the Chetco River. Fishing, floating the river, exploring the beach and exploring the restaurants and local art scene are all popular to visitors and locals alike.
Lone Ranch Beach- Located at the South end of the Samual H. Boardman State Park, you will find tidepools with starfish and rocks and great places to explore.
Secret Beach-A nice hiking trail brings you to the beach in a little cove that is relatively private and quiet- a great place for relaxing and exploring the coast.
Mill Beach-Located at Macklyn Cove, this little hideaway is especially popular on the weekends with people of all ages for picnics, surfing, hiking or taking a casual stroll along the beach. Sometimes you might even see fishing and kayaking as people are looking for sea glass and shells.
China Beach- A secluded beach with a bit of steep hiking to this spot. A pristine beach and hiking trails that is especially special during low tide. There are views from above and below that are breathtaking.
A short drive North or South provide many more beach or recreation areas that are wonderful to explore. The Brookings Harbor provides beautiful views of the boats and provides a wonderful location for grabbing a bite to eat at a local restaurant or the local ice cream shop.
