This classic schoolhouse was built in 1931. It still has that vintage charm, and we have filled the apartments with turn of the century inspired furniture and decor, yet adding modern conveniences. Many of the items date back to its use as a elementary school. Our goal is to make it as warm, welcoming, and comfortable as possible. We have a pool, full gymnasium with sports, workout area with a Peloton (bring your own cycling shoes), and ping pong. There is a fire pit, big lawn, and fort area.
There is one queen bed, and we have a roll away bed and the couches are very comfortable if you dont mind sleeping on a couch. Max capacity is 4 people, including kids. We also have a roll away twin bed you can use.

EARLY CHECK-INS/LATE CHECKOUTS: Please send a message the morning of your check-in and we will let you know if we can accommodate an early check-in or late checkout at the end of your stay! An accepted request to book does not mean your early check-in time was approved. This is a $25 additional charge that must be paid prior to your check-in (for early check-in) and prior to your checkout (for late checkout). If you stay past your 11am check out time without approval, you will automatically be charged for that listing's base nightly rate without discounts. Please be courteous to our housekeeping and their team.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING? We will provide basic toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, soap, and body wash. We will provide a reasonable amount of coffee and tea supplies, and a few snacks. We recommend bringing your own toothpaste, contact solution, and sunscreen. For food, there are refrigerators, so bring what you think you will need.
CHILDREN: This is a very old building. It is not "Child Safe". Children are welcome, but they should be supervised 100% of the time. No young (under 12) children in the pool or gym area without supervision.
STAIRS: Upstairs apartments require you to go up 2 flights of stairs. There are good railings. It is NOT handicapped accessible.
ALLERGIES: This is an old building. Additionally, there are pets on the premises, even though we do not allow pets in our rentals. This particular apartment has a couch that is down filled. Rent at your own risk. We also have parrots whom you will hear during daytime hours.
SMOKING: This is a non-smoking property. This includes vapes/e-cigarettes. Breaking this rule will result in a $200 fine per night and potentially the additional cost that is incurred by losing the next guest’s reservation because we cannot eliminate the odor in time for the next booking. No Smoking in the pool or anywhere in the fenced in area of the pool. Any cigarette butts left anywhere around the outside of the school will be assessed at $20 per butt. Additionally, the reservation will be cancelled and the guest will be asked to leave.
CANDLES: No burning of candles or incense allowed. Scented candles or incense will be treated and fined like smoking (see above).
PETS: No pets. A violation of this rule will incur a $250 fee and the guest will be asked to leave. Upon checkout, if there is excessive pet hair, any waste, damaged or stained linens or floors due to pets, charges will be assessed up to $500.
NARROW BATHROOM: This apartment has a very narrow bathroom with very little room for maneuvering. It is directly connected to the bedroom.
KEYS: Our locks are digital and we change the code after every guest. You will be messaged a code via the Airbnb App or your cell phone messages the day of your check in.
SECURITY CAMERAS: There are NO security cameras inside the school, but there are multiple security cameras on the perimeter of the school, and there is one at the pool. We don't monitor these cameras unless we have reason to believe someone is breaking a house rule.
SHARED SPACE: The Laundry area, landings, bathrooms near the pool, and hallways are shared space. So are the pool, the outdoor areas, the gymnasium, and the stage. Please be respectful of other guests. Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 7 AM.
OFF LIMITS SPACE: The commercial kitchen, the back hallway areas beyond the door, the downstairs maintenance rooms, and the garages and shops are private areas. Other people's apartments are also private.
POOL: The pool is heated and open from 7 AM - 10 PM. At 10 PM, we will clean the pool and adjust the chemicals. Please do not swim unattended. No glass in the pool area. No diving. No peeing. You can use the bathrooms near the pool to change. No smoking within the pool area, Keep the door to the pool area latched at all times. Pool will be open from May - Sept, weather permitting.
LAUNDRY: Our laundry area is for the guests and the property owners who live here. Feel free to use it within reason, but please remove your items as soon as they are finished washing or drying. We will not be responsible for items left behind.
CLEANING: Our cleaning fees are based on a courteous guest (e.g. someone who cleans up after themselves, leaves the place as they found it, etc.) and allows us to keep prices low. If our housekeeping crew discovers an unreasonable mess post-checkout, we will charge an additional fee of $100 on top of any additional fees incurred by extra time for housekeeping, delays for the next guest, etc.
PARTIES: Schoolhouse Stay enforces a strict no-parties/noise violation policy to all its residents. If you throw a party, trash the space, damage the unit, disrespect the property, or have a gathering with extra guests that are not reported in your initial booking, you are breaking the rules and will be fined $500, plus the extra non declared guest fee, as well as immediate termination of the reservation and removal from the property without refund. Quiet hours are 10 PM - 7 AM.
NON DECLARED GUESTS: All guests must be listed on the reservation and approved. Bringing in non declared guests will incur a per guest, per day, cost of $40 each (per day).
PACKAGES: We do not allow guests to order mail/packages to this location for privacy reasons. If you attempt to have something delivered to this address, it will be rejected and we are not held responsible for its whereabouts.
HOT WATER: All of our listings have hot water. In the event it is cold, first, let it run for at least 1 minute. If this doesn't solve the problem, please let us know, and we will do what we can to fix it. We cannot be held liable for any issues.
BATS: We have a lot of bats. Bats are an endangered species and play a critical role in the ecosystem. They won't bother you, but it's fun to watch them fly at night during the summer. They are harmless and do not attack people.
BUILDING CONDITION: We aim to be good hosts, so if you have any concerns, please reach out to us, and we will try to resolve them within reason. If you find a problem, please report it within 24 hours of your first night of stay. Keep in mind this is a very old building, with an old heating and cooling system. We only have so much ability to control temperature in individual rooms. By staying here, you agree to accept that a 90 year old building will have cracks, stains, heating issues, and broken parts. The furniture is deliberately old, antique and vintage. We do our best to maintain the building and furniture in the best condition possible, but she’s an old lady. If you are looking for a place that’s perfect and brand new, this is not the place for you.
Understand that we are at the mercy of handyman availability for all “fix-it” requests. Blinds, curtains, and lightbulbs fall under the “non-emergency” maintenance category and won’t be completed until they’ve addressed any emergency requests around the property first. We cannot issue refunds for these non-emergency requests. There is a $50 fine for not allowing maintenance staff to enter during a reservation.
**This home has been professionally cleaned and sanitized. For your comfort, we continue the flow of air throughout the home which may include the A/C, heater, or ceiling fans. These factors may slightly alter the state of the home between the time the housekeeper has finished cleaning and the time you arrive. When you enter the home, you are bringing in dust, debris, hairs, lint, and other particles. These particles may settle on surfaces within the home including the floors. By accessing the home, you may directly or indirectly affect the surfaces and sanitization of the home due to the natural movement of air throughout the home.**
BOOKING REQUESTS/ACCEPTED BOOKINGS: Accepting a booking request or sending a pre-approval doesn't override our house rules or booking requirements.
ILLEGAL ACTIVITY: Any guest performing any illegal activity will immediately be escorted from the property by the police, with no refund.
