Lakewood Cottage - Cheboygan

Things to Note:
Please check with me before booking with small children. Though we welcome folks of all ages, we are not a "baby-proofed" cottage and there might be some areas in which special caution is needed (fireplace, our stairway, the back deck, the fire pit). Reach out with questions!

Our home is heated by the gas fireplace in the living room. This is the MAIN heating source for our little cottage. There is no forced air or venting to the upstairs. In the cooler months, the bedrooms, especially upstairs can be a little chilly. We do provide space heaters to use in the spaces and our guests find them to be more than enough to keep cozy!

We supply 3 remote controlled window AC units in the summer months.

Rules:
1. Lakewood Cottage resides in a private association. We expect only our registered guests to be on our property and the shared property of Cordwood Point unless permission has been given prior.

2. Guests must treat our property and our neighbor's properties with respect. Treat Lakewood Cottage and the land as if it were your own.

3. Please be respectful of the neighbors and reduce noise volume between 9:00 PM & 9:00 AM. Remember that in this a more rustic area, sound travels further than you think!

4. Please check the Fire Danger Risk Level & wind before starting a fire in the fire pit. Also, extinguish any fire/smoldering wood before leaving the premises or going to sleep. (Hose is attached to the house between the house & garage.) We are amongst many rustic areas of land & tall trees. Land & homes will burn fast. It is your responsibility to maintain your fire within the fire pit. You are responsible for damage done by fire that gets out of control.

5. No Smoking Allowed. Smoking (marijuana or tobacco cigarettes, cigars, electronic cigarette or any similar product whose use generates smoke or vapors) is not allowed in the house, on the decks, or anywhere on the property.

6. No Pets Allowed. While we love animals, out of respect for our family and other guests with allergies, we ask that there be no pets in Lakewood Cottage.

7. Do not leave garbage on the property or in the cottage unless in designated garbage cans. Please tie up any potentially smelly garbage cans and leave them for the cleaner to dispose of.

8. Our cottage runs on well water and septic! Our water is FRESH and delicious! Because we are on septic, we need to be EXTRA cautious when flushing. Please flush ONLY toilet paper. NO feminine products, paper towel, napkins, or other materials may be flushed. A *little* bleach is okay in your laundry, but we prefer to avoid this, if possible, as it can harm the septic system.

9. We encourage you to avoid outdoor shoes in the cottage living space – it might be a good idea to bring a pair of indoor slip-on shoes to wear inside as the floors can be chilly in the cooler months.

10. Upon check-out, please leave the cottage & property clean and in the same condition as it was found. Check-out is 10:00 a.m. This might be flexible depending on next guests & our cleaner's availability - please inquire about late check-out! Thank you in advance for your cooperation. 11. No Refunds or Rental Reduction. No refunds or reduction of the rental charges will be given due to, without limitation, (i) the failure of any appliances or (ii) any events or forces that are beyond Owner's control (such as travel conflicts or cancellations or delays, inclement or unseasonable weather, water, electricity, natural gas or other utility service interruptions or failures, activities of utility companies, whether on the Property or off-site, cable TV and/or internet service provider failures, flooding, wild animals, construction in the area or mandatory evacuation of the area due to weather or other potentially dangerous circumstances). In the event an appliance failure should occur, please immediately report the failure to Owner and Owner will seek to have the appliance repaired as soon as practicable.
