This is a large 5-bedroom home with a beautiful view of the Monterey Bay.
Large living room - great for conversations and games - overlooks the bay with beautiful sunsets, dining room, and galley kitchen (light use only - if you plan on a lot of cooking, please arrange ahead of time). Seating area in backyard and on front porch. Front staircase is excellent for group photos!
Each room is listed separately, you can find them by clicking on my profile.
Bedrooms:
- Butterfly Suite (up to 5 people - king size bed, double sofa, foldout single bed)
- Beach Room (up to 4 people - queen size bed, single sofa bed, foldout single bed)
- Captains Room (up to 3 people - queen bed and single sofa bed)
- Honey Room (up to 2 people- queen size bed and single sofa bed)
- Tintins Study (up to 2 people - double sofa bed) - if you dont need this as a bedroom, it can be kept as a sofa and add to the living space as it has a sliding door which opens onto the living room.
We also have a couple of crib-size mattresses that can be placed on the floor for young children.
Please park your car directly in front of the house on the main street and enter the house through the FRONT door (not the side door by the garage). You will need to come through the garden gate and up the front stairs. We ask guests to remove their shoes in our house - there is a shoe closet near the front door.
The side entrance from the driveway is handicap accessible - arrangements can be made to use this entrance.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or would like recommendations on local attractions, restaurants and shops.
High up on the hill in Seaside, CA, our house is located in a peaceful neighborhood, with an amazing view. We are VERY close to Laguna Seca and the Monterey County Fairgrounds and just a little outside of the main touristic area, a short distance from the attractions of Monterey, Carmel & Pacific Grove. We are one of the last small cities on the way South to Big Sur. It is worth noting that the weather here is moderate all year long. It is not the Sunny California that you hear about, there is normally a bit of a chill. Our beaches are not the best for sunbathing and only the intrepid enter the water. Just around the corner from our home is a playground for kids. Seaside itself is not much of an attraction, but it has a number of nice restaurants and tends to be more reasonably priced than neighboring cities.
We are next to a bus stop with frequent service to the Fairgrounds, Downtown Monterey, Fishermans Wharf, and the Aquarium (Jazz B - every 30 min), and just a short walk away from bus service to Carmel-by-the-Sea (bus 94 - every 2 hours) and shops (Jazz A - every 30 min). Unfortunately public transportation in general is not great in this area. Its possible to walk down the hill to some shops and restaurants, but much easier if you have a car. With a car, there is easy access to Carmel, Monterey, Pacific Grove and Salinas.
• We are located on the same property, but will leave you alone unless you need us. We also have chickens coop with two chickens in the backyard.
• We are just down the street from the fire station—which means that were all set if we have an emergency—but we also have the pleasure of knowing every time anyone else does.
• We are on a quiet main street next to a school. The street doesnt have much traffic, but the sound carries when someone drives by fast or playing thumping music. We do not get much noise from the school at all. During school drop-off and pick-up times, it can be hard to find parking - otherwise there is plenty of room on the street in front of the house.
• You might be able to hear us from the kitchen/dining room, and my kids sometimes play in the backyard.

Owner
I'm Lebanese-American, grew up in Boulder, Colorado and have lived in London, Beirut and Cairo before coming to California. My husband, John, is Egyptian. I have a background in actor-created physical theatre and I taught Rhetoric and Composition for several years at universities. John was a journalist for a decade in the Middle East. At the moment we are dabbling in various types of writing and we run a non-profit organization that teaches creativity programs for children and Syrian refugees in particular. We have three small children.

House Rules
Please note: You are required to agree to the house rules before booking. Not reading the listing and the rules thoroughly causes false expectations and misunderstandings. Please make sure that you have read the rules!
Check-in time is 4pm or anytime after. Sometimes an early check-in can be arranged. Please do not show up early without prior communication.
Be prepared to read and follow instructions for self-check-in, where to park, and which door to enter.
If you have any problems climbing up stairs, arrange with me ahead of time and we can let you use our private entrance on the side of the house (it is wheelchair accessible).
Guests: All over-night guests must be included on the reservation and any additional day-guests must be pre-approved. Guests are not allowed to exceed agreed upon occupancy limit. There will be a penalty fee of $100/per person per night for anyone undisclosed (this is more than the extra guest fee paid at booking).
Parking: All cars are to be parked in front of the house. The neighbors have asked not to have guests parked on the side street. Cars should be parked facing the same direction as traffic, or you risk getting a parking ticket. One parking spot may be made available on the side driveway upon request.
Beds: We set up beds as agreed upon prior to arrival. If you would like an an additional sofa bed or foldout bed, please let us know rather than trying to set it up yourself. Do not sleep on the sofa without sheets.
Housekeeping: There is no daily housekeeping service. Cleaning fee covers the cost of laundry and routine cleaning. Please clean up after yourselves if you use the kitchen. An excessively messy kitchen (ie. oil splatter, dirty countertops, unwashed dishes), will incur a fine of $200.
Food: No eating in the bedrooms. Leftover food may be left behind in the fridge or on the counter to feed our chickens.
Garbage: All trash should be separated and fit into the bins outside the side door on the driveway. There will be a charge of $100 for excess trash if the bins are overflowing (unless the cans were already full when you arrived).
Respect the wooden floors (shoes off, no dragging/scraping luggage), and the wooden furniture (use coasters, don’t drape your damp towels or wet things). We provide hooks in your room where you can hang your towels instead of placing them on the bed or the furniture.
Check-out time is 10am. Sometimes we can be flexible, but other times we have a tight schedule - so if you’d like to stay longer, ask. Unauthorized late check-out will be fined at $100/hour.
NO parties. Family gatherings, board game nights, small birthday parties, etc are permissible. Please be considerate about noise levels between 10pm-8am as we are in a neighborhood.
NO drunkenness or heavy drinking. NO drugs (including marijuana and NO smoking on the premises. We reserve the right to charge a $200 penalty for violation of this rule.
No pets, subject to $200 penalty.
