Hi, my name is Elisabeth. Born in Hidden to an US mom and a German dad, I grew up moving around the world. I welcome you to our Villa Maestrali, the family vacation home built in the early 1970's on Skiathos island.
After raising a family, and for the past 18 years, my main focus is now managing this magical place, and helping our guests create wonderful memories. Thanks to its lush green vegetation, soft sandy beaches and crystal clear blue waters, Skiathos is called the "Emerald of the Aegean". As the filming location of "Mamma Mia" in 2008, this Greek island is no longer an insider tip. Come bask in sun, relax on the over 60 beaches and coves, take boat rides around the island and spend a day on its tiny neighbouring islands. Enjoy the friendly locals and wonderfully fresh cooked dishes offered in the colourful tavernas in town, and on most beaches.
After welcoming our guests, we stay on Skiathos all season, ready to share local insider tips and to be of assistance if so desired.

“Another Fabulous Stay - Excited to be Returning in 2025”
Another fabulous stay at this lovely villa on the beautiful Kalamaki peninsula of Skiathos. Gorgeous sea views from both sides of the house that capture both sunrise and sunset, large pool and very nice outdoor eating area, comfortable air conditioned bedrooms and great cooks' kitchen. A generous welcome basket of food on arrival and super-helpful hosts on hand if needed. Sad to leave but excited to be returning next summer!

“Fantastic villa”
We had a wonderful time. We had visited this villa decades ago and it was just as wonderful holiday as we remember, but with fabulous additions. The new pool is perfect and the kids were in it all day. The sweeping veranda is lovely, with an additional back patio with further fantastic views. 10 minute walk to the beach and plenty of other beaches within a short driving location. Kitchen was well equipped and we hired a chef one evening, who was also excellent. Elisabeth, the owner, helped us with taxi numbers and finding any information we needed. I am sure we’ll be back.

Lovely villa. Have been before and will return again. The views are incredible, fabulous sunsets. The pool is the perfect temperature and a great beach is ten minutes walk away. We had three young children who have all loved it.

“We Loved Our Stay at Villa Maestrali”
We loved our stay at Villa Maestrali. Walking distance to a lovely beach and taverna, for days we chose to leave the privacy of our pool. One of the highlights was the personal service we received from a kitchen stocked with essentials, to meeting us at the airport to help with car hire. And to top it off, dining on the patio at sunset is second to none. There is no reason to choose another villa!! We will definitely be back.

“Our favourite Villa ”
starstarstarstarstar
Our favourite villa for the most beautiful and relaxing holiday. Top beach within walking distance and stunning views from both terraces. Popular with our 20 somethings and their friends whose bedrooms and bathroom are separate from the main house. Big open plan sitting room, dining room and well-equipped kitchen. Cleaners twice weekly plus pool man and gardener. Friendly and responsive owners nearby if any issues.

“4th visit - amazing stay”

4th visit to the Villa Maestrali and everything was as perfect as always. Very generous welcome goodies (everything you could possibly need to start you off!). The villa is spacious and extremely well equipped and there is excellent air con in all bedrooms (much needed in July!). The views are outstanding. Located on the Kanapitsa peninsula in a beautiful, quiet and peaceful area. We would highly recommend having a car (particularly if you have children). After many visits to the island some of our favourite taverna recommendations are: Lo&La, The Final Step and Johnny’s. Thank you Elisabeth for always being the most helpful and welcoming host! We can’t wait to return!

Wonderful location - close to the action and yet so private and secluded, breathtaking view, perfect pool and lovely clean villa. The owners are incredibly helpful and looked after us very well. We were very sad to leave!

“One of our best holidays”
One of our best holidays
We spent two weeks in June in the fabulous Villa Maestrali. We are very familiar with Skiathos having spent many years visiting but this was our first time here and it didn’t disappoint. We enjoyed the beautiful views in such a peaceful place. The villa had everything we could ask for and so much thought had gone in to the villa handbook and it was the best we have seen. We would certainly recommend, we had such a fantastic stay. We are already planning a return next year.

KASTRO: Discover the Fortress Ruins of Skiathos' Ancient Capital.

Skiathos’ famous Kastro - the Greek word for castle - is a monument of extraordinary, awe-inspiring beauty. Due to constant pirate invasions in the mid 14th century, the Skiathos inhabitants decided to leave their ancient, main city, and move to the northern part of the island for safety. Taking advantage of its natural fortification, they chose a point of high land jutting out into the sea, a large rocky promontory on which to build Kastro as their new capital and keep the

Nitwits and Cotton-Bums - The Legend of Tsougria Islet

Nitwits and Cotton-Bums - The Legend of Tsougria Islet

Once upon a time, the people of Skopelos quarrelled with the people of Skiathos over the islet of Tsougria, a small island protecting the entrance of the port of Skiathos. The people of Skopelos decided to steal the island for themselves and place it in front of their own port, to shield it from the rough seas of its northern exposure. So they made a long rope by entwining the intestines of many animals and tied it to Tsougria, thinking to pull it over to their port. That is why

Panagia Kounistra Monastery and its Miracle Legend

Panagia Kounistra Monastery, also known as Panagia Eikonistria Monastery is another picturesque monastery on Skiathos, tucked away in the middle of a pine forest on the southwestern side of the island. According to legend, one night in 1650, a monk, who led an ascetic life and was named Symeon, was surprised to see a twinkling light in the forest. Upon approaching it, the light receded, only to reappear and disappear again several times, so that he was unable to see what it

Cats on Skiathos Island

Cats on Skiathos Island

Like all Greek islands, Skiathos is no different in that is has a large population of stray cats, mostly appearing during the summer season. Much to the delight of cat-loving tourists, some lounge in the sun, draping themselves off the crooked steps of the town’s back allies, walls or the typical local blue painted chairs, as if waiting to be photographed. Others sit patiently in groups at the harbour, knowing when the colourful kaiki fishing boats will come in to give them
