Vermont Cottage located a bit south of center is a wonderful location to use as "base camp" for exploring the state. In this guide we will make suggestions for day trips and take you on scenic roads.

This wonderful hike is just down the road from Vermont Cottage Lake Amherst. Take the dirt road from the cottage, turning left at the end of the driveway. Travel along until you get to a bridge and take a right over the bridge. Continue on until you come to Plymouth State Park.
Day trip tour from Vermont Cottage. DIRECTIONS~Right turn out of the driveway, and turn right onto Route 100. Head north on Route 100. Take a right on Route 100A. At end of Route 100A take a right onto Route 4. After the Town of Bridgewater, you will see the 1st covered bridge on your right.
This beautiful pottery is fairly young on the scene. It is heirloom quality. Don't miss this beautiful store on the way to Woodstock from the cottage. Located on Route 4, on the right. You can register for a class.
Scenic drives and great places to stop. Outlined below are a collection of trips recommending Route 100. However! What we love to do every fall is get in the car and just go, taking right and left turns on a whim. Some of our best times and best discoveries are found this way.
