BBQ

There is a BBQ stored in the barn, just ask, or a brick BBQ just outside your back door.

Bedding and towels

It is a wool duvet and the pillows are hollow fill. Additional feather pillows are in the drawer under the bed. A spare blanket is in the right drawer under the bed. A summer weight duvet is also available. If you prefer the bed can be made up with sheets and blanket, please ask. Extra towels are available on request.

Bicycle storage/Wet boots and outer clothing

You can store your bikes in the barn. We have available a puncture repair kit and pump should they be required. You can put wet outdoor clothing and boots in the boiler room at the end of the building. There is a hanging rail and shelf above the boiler. It is usually quite warm in there but any really wet items I will gladly dry in the main house.

Groceries/ Cash Machine etc

There will be some basic items provided in you welcome hamper. Morrisons and the Co-op are in the centre of Brecon and an Aldi on the way into town from the south. All open 8am to 9pm, Sun 10am to 4pm. If you need to freeze anything please let me know. In addition Waitrose Tesco and Asda deliver to this area if you have an account. Please use ‘The Old Rectory’ as the delivery address.

The nearest cash machine and bank is Brecon. The Post Office is located in the Co-op.

Heating and hot water instructions

The controls are on the wall by the kitchen. There is no room stat as the radiators are controlled individually, except the bathroom which is fixed. Push the heating control over to the right to start the heating.

The hot water is on continuous demand and takes a little time to come out the taps. If you wish to take a bath do not run the hot tap too fast as the combi boiler can get a bit behind with the rate it heats the water. The shower is electric so keeps up fine! It does have one request please don’t flush and shower at the same time, it’s very pressure sensitive.

Internet access

We have recently had a major upgrade to fibre to the premises which has transformed the Wi-Fi speed. The access key is at the front of this folder. Please tell me if there is a problem with the connection.

Laundry

Washing and dryer are available in the main house for an extra charge of £5 per load. The drying line is just outside your back door and pegs are in the bucket under your sink.

Log burner

If you wish to light the log burner, we provide you with a basket of logs etc to get you started. A second basket is in the drying room. If you require more, please ask as I keep these small logs separate from our log pile. There is a metal bucket, dustpan and brush specifically for the fire under the sink. I will empty the bucket as required.

Medical

There is a basic first aid box in the bathroom cabinet. Please let me know if you have had to use it so I can replenish as necessary.

Parking

Please park between the barn and the coach house beyond the garage doors.

Mobile signal

Depending on your provider and phone we have now been upgraded to 4G coverage. Our house phone is available if you have a signal problem.

Rubbish collection

Please place rubbish in the dustbins just outside the property past the bedroom window. Extra bin liners are in the bottom basket by the cooker. The small bin is for food waste with degradable bags. Please place these in the larger food bin beside the dustbins.

Place any recycling items (glass, metal, hard plastic and paper) in the box beside the dustbins.

Septic Tank

Please place sanitary products, in the bags provided, in the bathroom bin. Do not flush them down the toilet.

TV/DVD Player

The TV signal is via the Digital Satellite box. To operate turn the TV on using the LG TV remote. Then turn on the Goodmans satellite box using its remote. The TV should be set to HDMI unless it has been changed. Select the input button on TV remote to switch between TV (HDMI) and DVD (AV1). You can then select a channel using the guide button on Goodmans remote.

Departure time

Departure is normally by 10am but please ask if you hope to depart later.
