At Reel Salt OBX, we are just a few minutes walk from the beach access.
Walking
Following the yellow arrows in the picture above, the first arrow takes you through the summer cottage road. This is not an official public beach access. The summer cottages are rented all summer and there are no landlords on site. We have used this access before. The hill over the dune to get to the beach is pretty steep.
The second and third arrows are the E. Tides accesses. These are both easier to navigate. These are not official public beach accesses but the neighborhood here is kind enough to allow people to use them from across the street. You could park there to drop items off if you have a lot of beach equipment but we do have a beach cart to put all of your items in.
Please do not use E. Harvest St across from the house. This is a private road and the neighbors there are not very accepting of people walking on their street. They will confront you.
Driving
If you want a place to park and go to the beach, the two closest public beach accesses are E. Hargrove Street to the North (left from the house) and E. Ida to the South (right from the house)
E Hargrove Street beach access has plenty of parking spaces on both sides of the beach road, it is handicap accessible, has a bathroom, a lifeguard on duty, and a mat for wheel chairs or strollers.
E. Ida Street beach access has a lifeguard (certain times of the season) and a mat for wheel chairs or strollers.
Another beach access to the south is E. Isabelle. This is where the Outer Banks Fishing Pier is located and Fish Heads Bar and Grille. There is parking, a bathroom that belongs to Fish Heads Bar and Grille but many beachgoers use the facilities. The food at Fish Heads is good too!
