Originally built for Edward Collings Knight, Jr. and his second wife, Marie Louis Label Knight, the 21,000 sq. Ft. mansion has been restored to its original state. Located in Hatteras, this small maritime museum has activities and information for all age groups. Scavenger hunts, learn the history of diving, new exhibits annually, and much more. Best of all, this museum is FREE. Their website is here.
Boasted as the “most complete site of all remaining life-saving stations in North Carolina and one of the most complete sites in the nation.” This life-saving station was built is 1874 and is rich with history. Learn more on their website here.
