Surfing in St. Augustine is a very popular water activity. If you have never surfed, take the opportunity to contact one of the local surf schools or surf shops below and get hooked up. They offer surfboard rentals or you can purchase one. Most have the option of a single lesson or a group lesson so you won't feel like you are the only one that doesn't get up on the first wave. They also offer surf camps during the summer for the kids and they love it.
The Lightner Museum is housed in the former Alcazar Hotel built in 1888 - one of the hotels that Henry Flagler built in St. Augustine to encourage tourism. The hotel offered a casino, a grand ballroom a gymnasium, a bowling alley, archery ranges, tennis courts, and the world's largest indoor swimming pool at that time.
There are several free family-friendly music venues to put on your list during your stay at The Sand Bucket. Two are located on the Island and one is in the historic area.
Let's start with the oldest food truck in St. Augustine. Nalu's opened in 2002 and is still going strong with some of the best burritos and tacos around served up with Hawaiian inspired sauces. You will find Nalu's parked in the parking lot of The Surf Station at 1020 Anastasia Blvd. near the entrance to Anastasia State Park and across from The Alligator Farm. They open around 11 am, close at Sunset and are closed on Tuesdays.
