Rip currents are strong and narrow currents which move directly away from the shore as pictured above. Rip currents can be very scary and very dangerous if you don’t know what is happening or what to do. A rip current is not the same as undertow. It simply carries objects (including people) beyond the breaking of waves.
What Beach Warning Flags Mean As you look along the Panama City Beach or Navarre Beach you will no doubt see flags along the coastline. These flags are posted daily to alert you to swimming conditions for everyone's safety. What these flags mean may not be completely apparent so we provide you the chart shown below.
