Lunch In Forest City, NC

Smith's Drugs of Forest City

Smith's Drugs of Forest City

Smith's Drugs of Forest City is located right on Main Street in downtown Forest City.  Be sure to stop at this charming place if you happen to be in the area.  Smith's Drugs has been locally owned since 1939, and is no different than any other modern pharmacy (except for being small town friendly)! Breakfast and lunch are served six days a week.  The old-timey soda fountain has a 50's style decor.  Staff is friendly, and prices very reasonable.  The fountain serves standard American breakfast and lunch fare.  There are plenty of menu items to choose from, including kids meals.  Popular lunch items are the chicken salad and pimento cheese.  Once lunch is over, the fountain stays open to serve shakes, ice cream, and desserts.  You can also browse their lovely gift shop. Breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m., and lunch ends at 3 p.m. Closed on Sundays. Stop in, and take a step back in time.

Cafe at the Mall

Cafe at the Mall

Cafe at the Mall is located in the Tri-City strip mall in Forest City, NC; it's a 4 minute drive from the Walmart Supercenter. This is an older strip mall, but don't let the location fool you.  This restaurant is a local hidden gem!  After spending her career as a registered dietitian, Owner Liz Rose was inspired to open the restaurant 20 years ago; and the doors have been open ever since! The seasonal menu offers fresh, locally sourced, homemade dishes. You will instantly be able to tell that each menu item has been prepared, with exceptional care and detail.  Cafe at the Mall is a bit on the pricier side, but definitely worth the quality/flavor you receive in return.  On the menu, you will find daily quiches, creative salads, sandwiches on artisan bread, soups, vegetarian options, and much more.  Don't forget to take home some goodies from their gourmet bakery.  Locals rave about this place, including the incredible desserts!  Please comment below and share what you enjoyed at Cafe at the Mall.
