Fort Mountain State Park

These beautiful 4000 acres historically have been home to the Cherokee Indians In Georgia. Today it offers over 25 miles of various hiking and 27 miles of biking trails to choose from, along with picnic shelter, fishing spots, swimming, horseback riding... not to mention the expansive views over North Georgia mountains. There is a $5/vehicle fee to enter the park (it was based on the honor system with envelops available at the entrance or in the parking areas).

Mt. Jackson and Webster Loop Trail

Mt. Jackson is ranked #39 on the list of the 48 4000 footers and it was our 2nd 4000 footer.

Mt. Tecumseh our 1st 4000 footer

At 4,003 ft. Mt. Tecumseh just barely makes the list and is the smallest of the official 48 4,000 peaks in NH. It's located in Waterville Valley, NH and the Waterville Valley Ski area is located on Mt. Tecumseh.

Emu Mountain

Emu Mountain also known as Mount Peregian (the indigenous word for emu) is located directly behind the house making it 100% accessible to get to and from.

Beginner & Family Friendly Hikes

There are hikes for all abilities in the White Mountains. When we started hiking my little one was just 4 years old and my oldest was 7. They are now several years older and are making their way through the 48 4000 footers and this summer conquered the big one... Mt. Washington.
