Our favorite stores to visit at this historic Cape May outdoor shopping venue
Washington Street Mall
Website for Washington Street Mall
Parking Tips:
- we have a larger truck and find that parking can be tough in CM - but we can usually find a spot in the Acme parking lot (and yes, you are allowed to park there even if you are not an Acme customer).
- DO NOT park in the church parking lot unless you are attending Mass (and even then, there is a time limit to how long your car may stay there).
There are a number of great shops in this several-block stretch in the heart of Cape May City. Some of our favorites:
Swede Things in America
- http://www.swedethings.com/ 307 Washington Street Mall, Cape May, NJ 08204 - This adorable little Scandinavian gift shop will be interesting to Swedes and non-Swedes alike.
Bath Time
- https://bathtimecapemay.com/ - 401 Washington St, Cape May, NJ 08204 - Let your senses soak it all in when you enter this store, with the large variety of ever-present rubber duckies in the window. My favorite part of the store is the blend-your-own perfume, but this well-scented store offers clothing, jewelry, skincare, soaps, and much more. Stop by for a sniff.
Museum D'May
- 401 Washington Street - https://gallerydmay.com/ 609-898-0400 This art gallery is worth a stop even if you don't fancy yourself an art collector. This place is beautiful.
The Cheese Shop
- 304 Washington Street https://www.restaurantji.com/nj/cape-may/the-cheese-shop-/ 609-305-4080 My old favorite cheese shop closed several years ago, but thankfully, we now have a new place to shop! They sell cheese, of course, but also local wines, bread, and fancy foods. If you can do so, stop by on "Sample Saturday" to taste some of their popular items.
Cape May Olive Oil Company and the Spice Cellar
- https://capemayoliveoilcompany.com/ 324 Carpenters Ln, Cape May, NJ 08204
Some of the best-kept secrets at the Mall are on the fringes. There are MANY great stores in the surrounding perimeter of Washington Street. This olive oil and spice store is one of them.
Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church
- Not for shopping, unless you want to buy a raffle ticket for the car they are nearly always raffling off as a fundraiser, but this place is worth a visit. http://www.ladystarofthesea.org/olss/ - 525 Washington, Cape May, NJ 08204 - A beautiful church with MANY Masses to choose from, there is no excuse to miss church while on vacation! This beautiful church is located in the heart of the Washington Street Mall, with parking provided. Stop by for a quiet moment, or take your chance with their ever-present car raffle and you may end this year with a new car!
