1) Go to Aruba.com for the latest Traveler Requirements regarding COVID.
You will have to submit (and print) a copy of your "ED Card" 3 days prior to arrival. A succesful completion will generate a large green checkmark. You cannot complete this ED card prior to this time. Traveller is solely responsible for adhering to the Arubian rules for entry. The requirements are constantly changing. Also, make sure you read the requirements to re-enter the US.
2) At the airport in Aruba, follow the crowd through Customs, stop at Baggage Claim to get any checked bags then head out to the front of the airport. There will be a line forming to your left as you exit the airport. This is where you can catch a cab to the Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort. Cost should be $29 (plus tip).
3) Checkin time is at 4pm. It is possible you can get in your room early, but I would not plan on it and have a bag accessible with a change of clothes and a bathing suit so you can go enjoy the resort while your room is being cleaned. They can hold your bags for you until your room is ready. You can start with lunch at Mulligans or Windows Restaurant (which offers a special Brunch with mimosas for $50/person.
4) Stocking up on food and beverages. There are two options to get groceries: Ling & Sons (IGA) Supercenter is a 15 minute walk (3/4 mile) or The Market Aruba is a smaller store with essentials and is located at the Alhambra Mall (outdoor strip mall which includes a casino, a Subway, Dunkin Donuts, Baskin Robbins, The Fusion Wine & Piano Bar, along with some gift shopping and other small eateries). The Market is at the end of the strip mall on the opposite end as the casino. The resort offers free golf cart rides to the Alhambra Casino. (If you plan on purchasing liquor, I suggest you purchase it from the duty free shop at the airport in Aruba...prices for this at the markets are marked up over double!)
* Grocery Stores in Aruba do not have bags! Make sure you take your own.
5) Amenities included with your room:
All the pools at the Divi Village Golf (make sure you find the Infinity Pool :), the Divi All-Inclusive and the Tamarijn. (Keep in mind you cannot purchase food or drinks from the Divi All Inclusive not the Tamarijn). The Beach Bar across the street on the beach has breakfast, lunch and dinner along with Happy Hour Specials at 5-6pm.
Workout gym (located on the beach by the Rock Climbing Wall).
Tennis Courts.
Golf Cart Rides around the resort and to the casino adjacent to the property.
Additional Fee for golfing, tubing and renting jetskis on the beach across the street. There is also a spa at the Divi All-Inclusive and a hair/nail salon at the Tamarijn.
6) Visit the Divi Resorts website for more details regarding Aruba's Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort under FAQs.
7) All-Inclusive Option. $170/pp/per night. If you want this option, all guests in the room must be AI and it must be for a minimum of 3 days (and they must be the LAST 3 days of your stay). This option includes all food and drinks (including alcohol) for at the Divi Village (the Seabreeze, Mulligans and the Infinity Pool Bar & Grill...however NOT Windows Restaurant). The AI package also includes all the restaurants and bars at the Divi All-Inclusive (5) and Tamarijn Resort (5) across the street on the beach. The Beach Bar (by the rock climbing wall) is an independent restaurant and NOT included.
Also included with the AI package are bike rental, rock climbing wall and non-motorized water sports.
8) Restaurants (If you are NOT doing the all-inclusive package) It is my understanding that you can get "vouchers" from the conceirge for drinks and the restaurants at the Divi All Inclusive and the Tamarijn. Please feel free to inquire about this in the lobby of the Divi Village Golf Resort.
Other excellent restaurants include Barefoot Restaurant on the beach downtown Oranjestad, Giannis Restaurant for delicious Italian and Papiamentos has beautiful outdoor seating in a gardenlike setting. I have also heard that Flying Fishbone is another good one. All of these require a cab ride and are priced at $$$.
9) Excursions. The conceirge can help you make reservations for dining out and for adventures around the island. Things we recommned:
10. Communication. There is WiFi available at the resort however the best signal can be reached from the Lobby areas. We recommend not making any local calls yourself or from your room as this can be quite pricey. The Conceirge (in the lobby) is happy to make any local calls or reservations for you. If you have a smart phone, I suggest turning on your WiFi Calling on BEFORE you travel out of the country This will allow you to make and receive calls via WIFI to/from the US at NO charge. Please note the the WiFi Calling must be turned on IN the states BEFORE you leave home.
