The most famous sight to see is the famous Pensacola Beach sign. The sign has a history of its own and is an iconic landmark. But if you haven't seen it at night, it is worth the drive! One of the original sail fish can be seen at Flounders Restaurant, on the Beach. And if you like what you see, you can find its image on a t-shirt, glass, magnet, or miniature sign of your own.
Gulf Breeze has several great public parks and playgrounds. If you need a break from the beach or just need a place to take the kids while someone else is doing the shopping, check out these great places. They also have a farmers' market on Tuesdays starting at 4:00pm until sundown, a skate park, and splash pad. An orienteering course, a fishing pier, playgrounds, swimming piers, boat launches... You can find it all in Gulf Breeze.
One of the oldest and best attractions in Gulf Breeze is the Naval Live Oaks Reservation, a part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, a unit of the National Park Service. The park is open year-round 8 a.m. to sunset. The indoor exhibits in the headquarter's building is open M-F, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (except holidays). The park is free to visit and has over 7 miles of maintained trails and borders the Santa Rosa Sound. This is a great location for swimming, paddleboarding or just enjoying the beautiful live oaks. If you want to know more about the live oaks and the park, visit the site for details.
If you have some animal lovers in your group, or just on a quest to visit one zoo in every state, you are in luck! The Gulf Breeze Zoo is a great stop when you need to do something different. Located down US-98E, you will find exhibits with giraffes, gorillas, birds, reptiles, zebras, monkeys and more. If you want to feed the giraffes, you can plan for it too! They even have groups rates!
If the only thing you want to know about Gulf Breeze is how long it will take to get through it to the beach, check out the bridge cameras. The small part of the trip that is on Gulf Breeze's roads may take you longer than you anticipate if you try to cross when everyone else does. You may see the traffic is so bad, you might as well stop for lunch, go to the park, and visit the grocery store before heading over the bridge to the Beach. Don't miss it! It is really a great community with a lot to offer besides a Wal-Mart!
