You may have seen this food truck in Hanalei before, but now it is at its new location behind the Makana North Shore Urgent Care Center (in back of the police and fire station, just off the highway, past the Princeville Shopping Center on your way to Hanalei).

We have been waiting a LONG time to see what was going to take the space of the athletic club in the Prince Golf Clubhouse on the north shore of Kauai. The Prince golf course has been closed for several years and the clubhouse has not been open to the public for the same amount of time.

The Spot has been a popular organic frozen yogurt shop in the heart of Kapaa for several years. Recently they opened their second store right in the Princeville Shopping Center! Now visitors to the north shore can treat themselves to this unique twist on a frozen treat.

With the exception of the Saint Regis Hotel, you will not find a restaurant in Princeville with a better view than the Happy Talk Lounge. Whether you are in need of an island cocktail, a light dinner or a place to watch the game, this sports bar overlooking the grounds of Hanalei Bay Resort is the perfect spot to witness a Kauai sunset (other than from Honu Point, of course).

When I picked up a friend from the airport recently I suggested we eat lunch at Cafe Hemingway in Kapaa. Another friend had just recommended it to me and it was a chance for me to check it out. The restaurant has been open since 2011 but it has gone through several reiterations since then.

I must admit that I am not a sushi aficionado, but I trust that Sushi Girl has the best sushi on the north shore of Kauai because I have heard it from so many people. Starting out in a tiny hole-in-the-wall space in Wainiha, Sushi Girl relocated to a cute kiosk in the Kong Lung Market Center a couple of years ago.

One of my favorite bakeries on the north shore of Kauai is the Kilauea Bakery. Nestled in the courtyard of the Kong Lung Shopping center, it is a perfect stop before or after your trip to the Kilauea Lighthouse. For breakfast, the Kilauea Bakery has a wide selection of Hawaiian style Danish and French pastries.

If you are looking for an authentic Kauaian experience, look no further than dining at the Tahiti Nui Restaurant in Hanalei. I use the word dining VERY loosely, however. The building is old with no air conditioning, the food is just okay and the service is inconsistent.

If you are looking for healthy local-style food with fresh ingrediants you'll find the best grilled mahi mahi tacos on Kauai at Kilauea Fish Market. The owners opened their doors in 2004 out of a desire to support local fishermen and farmers and to bring a local fish market to the community of Kilauea.

Nothing like an organic cold pressed juice to quench your thirst on Kauai! In the town of Kilauea, just south of Princeville, is the open and airy Kauai Juice Co. Here you will find unusual combinations of fruit, vegetables and herbs mixed to perfection. They will tingle your tastebuds and aid in your health.

As you can tell from the photo we grow things large on the island of Kauai. This avocado happens to be from my own yard rather than from a Farmers Market; I know, lucky me! The good news is I'm willing to share.

The Bistro is located in a small, but quaint, shopping center (Kong Lung Village Center) in the heart of Kilauea town right off Lighthouse Road. Look for the stone buildings on the corner.

If you are wondering where to eat in Kauai, and you don't mind driving to Kapaa, try the Hukilau Lanai for great food at reasonable prices. That's what Tom and I did last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Admittedly we rarely leave the north shore for dinner, but this occasion seemed to warrant the drive.

We just dined with Kauai ONO 560 for the first time. We are regular visitors to the North Shore and for some reason have just heard about this "pop up" dining experience. Normally, we look for something special for one night when we're on the island...this is so much more fun (and better food) than our most recent experiences at the St.

There's a new restaurant in Kapaa town called Coconut's Fish Cafe and you might definitely want to stop by if you are coming from, or going to, the north shore. After hearing about it from two of my friends, one of which claimed the fish tacos to be the best she had ever eaten, I decided to give it a try.

If you are looking for an urban-chic eatery, offering handcrafted, locally-sourced burgers, hand-cut fries, and the Eastside's largest selection of local and craft beers on tap, then Street Burger is just for you.

Looking for a place to grab a great tasting pizza or some local food, give the North Shore General Store a try. Unbelievably you will find the store/restaurant at the Princeville Gas Station in the Princeville Shopping Center.

No changing clothes, no driving, no waiting, no noise, and you don't even have to leave the spectacular views that outshine most of the restaurant settings on the north shore of Kauai.
