We have Smart TVs in our living room and in the recreation room and in the bunk room over the garage. Both are new systems that are easy to use, but we understand that if your system at home is different, it can be confusing. Here are tips to help if you encounter problems.
TV Instructions
Please don't rearrange the cables on the TV and AV equipment – we have spent a lot of time setting everything up properly and when cables are moved it can be time-consuming to get everything working again.
Here is how our TV system works:
- Use the TV remote to turn the TV on (see photo above)
- If you want to watch Netflix, Hulu, or any other app, use the middle button on navigate the menu as shown below and make your selection. The outer ring of the button will allow you to move through the apps, and pressing in the middle will allow you to choose what you want to watch.
- If you want to watch cable TV, use the xfinity remote to turn on the cable box, and use the number pad to change channels.
Trouble Shooting
If you get the screen below, it means the cable box is not turned on. Please use the xfinity remote to turn on the cable box, and the TV should come on.
You may use the Smart TV to order movies from your own Netflix or Amazon accounts. (We try to remember to log out of our own Netflix account before leaving, but sometimes we forget! If our Netflix account happens to be open, please log in the Guest User. ) If would like to rent a movie from Xfinity, we follow the honor system. Please just leave cash to cover your rental in the envelope provided near the TV. There is also a video rental store on Highway 4 that has a good selection of movies.
Please do not change any cables on the TV itself!
