The 2020 Driftwood and Sand sculpture competition will begin in January in Hokitika. The event runs every year at this time. It has had to be moved further south along the beach this year, as the coastline has changed and there is now very little beach where the event usually is. Sculptures are now further south at Sunset Point, near the Tambo memorial shipwreck where there is a lot more sand and plenty of driftwood for artists to create their masterpieces. The event is open to all. Even those just passing through Hokitika are welcome to enter and vote for their favourite piece.
