Here we answer some of the frequently asked questions about our cottage.
- Do you supply linen?
Yes, we supply all bedding and towels, tea towels etc.
- Is there a kitchen? What do you supply?
Yes, there is a small galley kitchen with oven and microwave. There is also a rice cooker, toaster, jug, sandwich maker and fridge/freezer. We supply just the basics; small amount of cooking oil, salt, pepper, some spices. This is a self catering property so you need to bring your own food supplies.
- How many bathrooms are there?
There is one bathroom. It has a new shower, toilet and hand basin. We supply some toilet rolls to get you started, soap and a hairdryer. There are also a few items in the cupboard left by past guests such as extra shampoo, deodorant etc if you have forgotten to pack something.
- It's a very old house. Will we be warm enough in winter?
Yes, it is a very old house and if you stay in winter you will need to know how to use a woodfire to keep it warm, As the listing says, "if you don't know how to use a woodfire, please don't book in winter", However, once the fire is lit the house heats up really well. There are heaters in each bedroom and electric blankets on most of the beds.
- Is there a washing machine?
Yes, there is a washing machine, We do not supply washing powder. There is no dryer but we have a drying rack and there is a laundromat down the street if you need to dry something urgently.
- Do you charge a cleaning fee?
No we don't charge any cleaning fees. We just ask that guests leave the house as they found it - clean and tidy. Please wash and dry all your dishes and put them away. Put your used towels in the washing machine. Make sure all furniture is in it's original place.
- Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are by prior arrangement only. You must provide your own pet bed. No dogs on furniture or in any bedrooms. You are responsible for any damage caused by your pet. All droppings must be picked up and disposed of by you.
- What time is check in and check out?
Check in is from 3pm. Check out is by 10am.
- Where can I park?
You can park anywhere on the street or on the grass beside the house.
- What is there to do in Hokitika?
