Beautiful and quiet home with old charm and modern amenities! Leave your car behind for a game at Jack Trice Stadium; meander to nearby restaurants or Iowa State University. Theres a fenced yard and the doorbell has a security camera in the front of the house. Sleeps 8 comfortably with 3 queen beds. 4 rooms offer 3 queen beds, and 1 cozy room a twin/trundle. Theres a fully functional kitchen and screened porch. With all its quirks and charms, you will love Serendipity House as much as I do!
With approximately 1600 sq feet interior space and a spacious open back yard with trees for shade with plenty of room to run and play, the house has everything you will need!
On the inside, the living room has 50 inch TV with Roku and a comfortable and stylish sofa with plenty of additional seating. The ottomans can double up as extra spots when needed Seat your entire family around the dining room table. The kitchen is fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, pots, pans and bakeware and cooking utensils. In the bedrooms youll find closets with storage space, hangers and suitcase racks, and comfortable queen and twin sized beds with memory foam mattresses. Additionally, theres shampoo, conditioner and body soap in both of the showers along with a towel, washcloth for each guest. Make-up cloths are also provided! The basement has a finished bonus room with another sofa and some games/puzzles for the whole family to enjoy.
Plan for winter! I have a snow and ice removal service that will take care of ice and snow after winter storms. Please allow up to 24 hours for them to complete the service. Additional snow removal supplies are available in the garage, where you’ll find a shovel and ice-melt if you need it.
I offer the fastest internet available in Ames with an upgrade that guarantees no dead spots.
Parking in the driveway has enough space for 2 or 3 cars, depending on size, which will come in handy for game days when parking can be difficult! Be sure to pay attention to parking signs if you are parking your car in the street.
For your convenience, there is a washer and dryer available in the unfinished portion of the basement, if you need it.
Theres a fire pit in the back yard. Please use at your own risk. Please bring your own firewood and burn only wood in the ring. A fire extinguisher is located under the sink in the kitchen.
Theres an actively recording video and audio doorbell in the front of the house at the front entrance and an actively recording video and audio bird feeder located behind the garage in the back yard. These provide additional security and surveillance of the property.

Outside of that, I also travel extensively, so know how important it is to have a relaxing place to return to after a busy day. Self check-in after 4pm. Check out is 10am. This allows enough time for cleaning between guests for same-day turnovers. I cannot routinely offer early check-in, but will accommodate it if possible. Please inquire day of check-in.

This is my home! Unfortunately, I am not able to live here currently due to family circumstances. I do rarely stay here for work, however, so I keep a closet for myself in the main bedroom that is locked and two baskets with my personal items in the main bedroom sink area. Other than these few items, you will barely know I stay there! Don’t worry, you will have the entire place to yourself during your stay!
Because this is my home, I ask that you please treat it how you would treat your own home!
Please be respectful of my neighbors and honor quiet time after 9pm.
Only guests who are on the original booking are allowed to stay overnight. You may be asked to leave the premises if found to have additional people and/or an additional charge may be billed. I have a strict no-parties rule.
No smoking/vaping anywhere on the premises. No illegal substances, including marijuana/THC. If you do smoke/vape I ask that you do so outside away from the building and that you properly put out and dispose of the cigarette. There are smoke detectors and CO detectors in the home. An additional cleaning fee will be charged if found to have any evidence of smoking in the home.
No fires in the indoor fireplaces, they are non-operational and for decoration only. No open flames or candles are allowed in the home.
Please enjoy the outdoor fire pit! Please supply your own wood. Only burning wood/charcoal (no garbage or plastics). Use at your own risk and 100% supervision is required. Fire extinguisher is in the kitchen under the sink.
Yard maintenance is weekly on Thursdays during growing season sometime between 10am and 4pm. They will need to be able to access and enter the back yard. Please plan accordingly.
Snow removal in the winter months is done within 24 hours of a snow event. A shovel and de-icing salt are provided if you need it before the snow removal is able to get out to the house.
There is a “cooler” available for your use on the patio. Please put ice in the available bins, as the Radio Flyer Wagon has holes that will allow leaking onto the porch.
The thermostat is located in the living room on the wall. Comfort settings are already pre-set. If you adjust the temperature, please do not go above 75 Fahrenheit in the winter or below 68 Fahrenheit in the summer. To adjust the temperature, tap on the right side of the dial and swipe the side up or down accordingly.
For the TVs, you will be asked to enter your departure date prior to logging in. You will be automatically logged out after you leave. You may add a channel/app if you don’t see the one you are looking for.
The trash bin and extra bags are in the kitchen under the sink. Please recycle. To make it easier, a bin is located in the hallway pantry. Trash/Recycling bins are located on the backside of the kitchen off the driveway. Please make sure you re-lock the side entrance if you decide to use it.
Laundry is in the basement. The iron and ironing board and also in the basement hanging on the door to the laundry room.
Please ensure the downstair bathroom window is wiped after your shower to prevent damage to the wood from setting water.
Also, please start the dishwasher and wash any extra dishes and place in the dish drain prior to departure. The cleaners will take care of the trash and any food left in the fridge after you leave.
