Beautiful house, great location!

This turned out to be a wonderful place for us, our two daughters, and three grandchildren under the age of 4. The very hot weather kept us indoors more than we might have liked, but it was only a short drive to aquarium, downtown Charleston, beach, and dock for sailboat ride. The house was well appointed and very comfortable. We would do it again - Highly recommended.

Girls weekend

The house was as beautiful in reality as it appears online. Front and back porches with comfortable chairs. The back of the house has a beautiful view of the marsh. It is a very quiet setting but also a short drive to restaurants and grocery stores. Updated kitchen and bathrooms and very comfortable beds. Laurie, the owner of the house, was very helpful getting us acquainted with our surroundings. A great house! We had 5 women staying 5 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. I highly recommend The Big Chill.

Picturesque Scenery and Convenient Location Makes Picking The Big Chill a Must!

The pictures do not do this home justice! It was the perfect backdrop for our annual girlfriends’ weekend. The serene backyard; the picturesque river views; and the updated, comfortable, and clean surroundings make this property top notch. The kitchen has everything that you need (which cannot always be said for rental homes). The house is close to a number of restaurants, grocery stores and other offerings in Mt. Pleasant, and is only a short drive to Charleston. We have rented properties for this trip for seven of the past eight years and this was, by far, one of the best overall experiences. The owners were most hospitable before, during and after our visit. They really go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable down to the little extras that make a big difference like a pre-arrival info package, luggage racks, makeup wipes, bath beads, etc. George gave us a history of the area when we checked in and even assisted us in setting the crab traps (albeit only for a catch and release photo opportunity). Definitely a 5-star stay! Glad that we chose the Big Chill for our vacation.

A beautiful home with top of the line amenities. Lots of space indoors and outdoors, very relaxing They have books, magazines, fully supplied kitchen, extras in the bathroom( I forgot a toothbrush and there was one for me), beach chairs and more. A hotel in a house. Very friendly owner and accessible for questions, comments and daily greeting. A must if you are interested in Mt. Pleasant and traveling with friends or family

Very nice!

Really enjoyed our stay at the Big Chill in Charleston! The owners do live on site but were respectful of our privacy. Nicely appointed house. The beds were phenomenal! Slept incredibly well on those mattresses! Lots of utensils etc in the kitchen to make yourself at home and cook if you wish. Nice place in a great location!

Beautiful house, great location

Everyone in our 3 generation family of 10 loved the house and grounds. The house was spotless and had everything we needed--plenty of space, a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and more. Laurie and George were nice to work with, and were kind enough to have coffee, creamer, orange juice and some treats for us when we arrived. We liked having them next door. The weather was too cold to use the kayaks but just right for building a fire in the fire pit and toasting marshmallows. The location is great, close to downtown Charleston but has the feel of being nowhere near a city. This is an ideal place for a vacation.

This is a unique property on a large peninsula lot, surrounded entirely by Marsh and Water. The views and privacy are spectacular ! You have use of our backyard dock...great for romance and wine. We provide Kayaks and Stand Up Paddleboards for guests to use. Also great for pulling in crabs and fishing. The house is only a fast hop over the bridge to Downtown Charleston....and the bridge is walkable. Uber and Lyft are swift - the bridge is about 3 miles long to get there. The beach is the other direction...only 6 miles down Coleman Blvd on the map. Mount Pleasant is "the place to be" and our neighborhood is the closest historic neighborhood to Downtown Charleston. If you select our home, please appreciate the diversity of our area... it is steeped in Gullah History.

We do not allow events at this property without pre-approval and extra fee for a small gathering. No weddings. Once booked we send you a personalized and customized agreement to sign and return within 48 hours with your photo id.

* NO Wild and Crazy Drunk Hens

Refundable Damage Deposit

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: (1) No Saturday arrivals or departures are permitted or accepted at this property. When booking or reserving a Friday night, guest MUST ALSO book and reserve the Saturday night following it. (2) The Refundable Security Deposit is a credit card hold (3) This is an "adult-friendly" house. Children must be supervised and well-behaved or are not suited to this house.

Cancellation Policy

CANCELLATION POLICY- If property cannot be provided, then a full refund will be issued. Otherwise the following policies prevail :
a) Travelers who cancel 60 days or more before check-in will get back 100% of the amount they've paid, less a $100 administrative fee.
b) Travelers who cancel between 30 and 60 days before check-in will get back 50% of the total base nightly cost of the rental, not including add-ons, taxes or service fees. If the listing site collected service fees or taxes, those cannot be refunded by property.
c) Travelers who cancel within 30 days of arrival with get No Refund and No Future Credit.
d) Our cancellation/refund policy is enforced as detailed in Clause 22.
e) Owner reserves the right to issue traveler a future credit in the case of a government order or restriction that makes the property unusable or inaccessible.
f) Cancellations must be in writing.
g) No refunds for early departure, or late arrival.
h) If the house is unacceptable to you, this is considered a non-refundable cancellation.
i) The booking site may charge you a service fee. Site service fees are specifically excluded from our refund policy and our contracts; service fees are solely between guest and booking site.
j) Failure to submit payments on time may result in cancellation of reservation without refund or recourse.
k) Property reserves the right to cancel this reservation for unforeseen circumstance, act of God or any situation that makes the property unusable. You will then receive a 100% refund of money paid to us. There will be no other money given for damages, consequential losses, or expenses.
