Amanda has a nice, quiet and clean place. She made sure to leave instructions not only for getting in and out of the apartment, but also for different restaurants and interesting places to visit. The few times I contacted her, her response was immediate. My two kids and I stayed for three days and because of our tight schedule, we didn’t have the time to look around, however we found a nice Italian store a block from her place where we got good food for our Thanksgiving celebration. Even though we only used the place to sleep, it was nice to arrive to a quiet and comfortable and clean place. I’m planning to return back soon and I will definitely try to stay in Amanda’s place again.

We had a small glitch on arrival and gaining access to the unit. We arrived quite late at night as expected but were unable to immediately get in touch with our host to be let in. We ended up gaining access as someone else was exiting the parking lot. Other than that, the unit was great, well appointed and very spacious and comfortable! A/C is via a minisplit unit on the main floor only which works very well. For that floor. The upper bedroom can get quite warm in summer, so be aware. At night things cool off nicely with windows open. Great location within walking distance of many bars and restaurants. There is ambient noise as should be expected due to location, but it wasn’t an issue for us. Parking space was a bonus!

This was a fantastic experience for someone who has never lived downtown in a major city before. The host was very accommodating and responsive. While you can’t do anything about the construction downtown during the day, the area is really peaceful at night compared to say Dallas. The property has a massive wall around it and a fantastic balcony. I had heard stories about the homeless population but I barely noticed them while I was there. The on-site parking would be perfect for a smaller vehicle. We were able to get in and out with our pickup truck for loading/unloading. Although I couldn’t make it work for parking during our stay, there is a fantastic open lot 1 block away with plenty of space and reasonable rates. There’s so much to do within a 5 minute walk! We barely scratched the surface. Basic pizza is the best I have ever had!

Fabulous location. We were a family of 5 coming for Comic-Con and it worked perfectly. Walkable to the convention center, Gaslamp district, tons of great restaurants. This was July and there is no central air conditioning- that was a bit rough. We had to keep the windows open the whole time which increased the city noise a little bit. It was a pretty bad heat wave when we went. I think normal San Diego temperatures it would be very comfortable. Lots of stairs, which was no big deal for us but possibly might be for some. The parking spot is tight. 😂. Back in from the street!!!!!!!! would stay here again. Overall great experience

Getting around

One of the best features of living here is the walkability. While the home is behind a metal gate this is very much an urban environment. As such, there may be homeless people on the streets, and like all cities, there can be noise outside at all hours. Once you check in, there is no need for a car, and you are walking distance from Petco, Convention Center, and countless bars and restaurants. The San Diego trolley system has a stop just 2 blocks away. San Diego Airport 4.4 miles San Diego Cruise Terminal 1.6 miles PetCo Park 1 block Gaslamp Quarter 3 blocks San Diego Convention Center 7 blocks Balboa Park 1.2 miles San Diego Zoo 2.5 miles Ferry to Coronado 1.5 miles
