Built into the slope of the mountain, the living space and deck are on the second floor, elevated high off the green belt, giving unobstructed views of the Butte and surrounding hills, bursting with and ever-changing symphony of color throughout the seasons. All this while the town and slopes are just 8 minutes away along a gorgeous drive in the foothills.
The space
When you first walk in the front door of our beautiful home, you will be drawn like a magnet straight out the back door to the huge deck. Since the house is built into the slope of the mountain, the entry, living space and deck are on the second floor, elevated high off the hill below, giving gorgeous, unobstructed views of the Butte and surrounding verdant hills. The summer brings a progressive kaleidoscope of wildflowers to the slope surrounding the house. In the fall, the aspens lining the walls of the valley glow a brilliant gold. Sunsets are especially amazing, as the light slowdances over the Butte and sky. While you’re loving the view, you’ll take a moment to appreciate how quiet is is up here, and what a special retreat from your busy life this really is. Spend as much time out there as you like but eventually come back inside to see how awesome the rest of the house is.
The living space is a wide-open floor plan with vaulted cedar ceilings for big gatherings of family and friends. The very well-equipped kitchen with subzero fridge and high-end appliances will help you create delicious meals with your crew. Gather around the rustic dining table or take your food and a glass of wine back outside to the iron outdoor dining set. Comfortable leather seating around a large, beautiful stone hearth and wood-burning fireplace will keep you toasty on cold nights. Touches of luxury mountain decor make the space magical, and all of it is graced with floor to ceiling windows to bring the same breathtaking view inside.
The large master Wildflower Suite is on the same floor and has its own access to the deck. In the morning, let the sun slowly fill the room as it grazes over the butte, or draw the shades and sleep late in the comfortable pillow-top king size bed. After a long day skiing, fishing, biking or hiking, you’ll love to relax alone or with your partner in the huge jacuzzi tub or steam shower.
Downstairs, you’ll find three more themed bedrooms. The River Room has a large rustic king size bed and corner seating area with views to the surrounding slopes of flowers and blue spruce trees.
The large Moose Room is designed for families or kids, with one log queen and two twin log beds, and a peaceful and secluded view to the back porch and aspen trees.
Finally, the Bear Room is decorated with kids in mind, and has two low twin beds.
These rooms share a large downstairs bathroom. There is also a full laundry room and another living space/media room, with access to another secluded lower back deck hidden by whispering aspens.
Meridian Lake Park is, in our opinion, the prime location in Crested Butte, being the perfect balance of a quiet retreat and unparalleled view of mountain living, all with the ski resort and downtown less than 8 minutes away along a gorgeous curvy drive through the foothills.
As amazing as the house and view is, you come to CB to get outside for peace and adventure. The Meridian reservoir can be seen from the house and it stocked with fish, if you’re into that. Or take a short hike up the hill past the reservoir to the natural alpine Long Lake for swimming in the summer.
There is a limit to two regular-sized cars in the driveway. Trailers are prohibited by the HOA, as is parking on the street. This is especially important during winter to allow snowplowing. Any fines assessed to the homeowner regarding parking will be passed on to renters.
We do recommend a 4-wheel drive in winter months. The city does plow the streets, but if a lot of snow falls very quickly, it can temporarily limit access to and from the house.
