The Tiny Red Barn is a labor of love built by us for you on the Diascund Reservoir with water views, wooded trails and sunsets. We feel like we're on vacation every day of the year and look forward to sharing our 26 acres with you. Heavily wooded land with rolling trails, birds, deer, squirrels, turtles, chickens and bees. A large amount of our property sits on the Diascund Reservoir which provides a whole other side of nature.

Blue herons, bald eagles, great fishing, kayaking, canoeing all just steps away. If you are looking for a true get away, you've found it. The Tiny Red Barn is approximately 1000 square feet, sleeps 6, built 2021, with full kitchen, sleeping loft, and a natural setting overlooking the reservoir. The screened in porch provides a bit of bug free enjoyment as you relax and take in the sights and sounds.



IMPORTANT NOTE



The Diascund Reservoir is a 1200 acre man made water supply for the city of Newport News. Rainfall determines the levels. As of June 2024, the water level is at 100%. Navigation is good.

Luxury Autumn Getaway
We had the best time at the Tiny Red Barn. We came to the area to visit Williamsburg, but our favorite part of the trip was relaxing at the barn. The property is absolutely gorgeous, completely serene and peaceful with breathtaking views. We spent time outside exploring, enjoyed s’mores by the fire, and cuddled up on the cozy seating on the screened in porch. The inside of the barn is immaculate. It was the cleanest, coziest and most meticulously decorated rental we have ever had. Our boys (5 & 9) loved the homemade cookies that greeted us, the leather rocker, sleeping in the loft and meeting the donkeys. Thank you so much for an amazing stay! We can’t wait to come back.

Lovely visit

My boyfriend, infant, and puppy had a great stay. The house was secluded but close enough to Williamsburg to drive in for the day. The whole family loved visiting the donkeys on our daily walk. Virginia and Stephen even provided cookies and smores supplies for us upon our arrival.

“No peace, privacy or respect.”
My previous review was removed which leads me to believe the reviews are NOT honest. Keeping it short but this place is not the place to stay if you want privacy and:or respect. Very controlling/disrespectful host- the Listing is not honest. The pier is behind the owners house not on the property of the cabin. It’s not very fun or romantic to sit on a pier behind someone’s house on your private getaway.

Response:Angela keep Trying. You broke the rules. Brought a propane tank sat it in the driveway and turned up the fire. Then you invited the locals over for a party, 12 cars, 25 people parked on the grass and irrigation system. You lied about your guest count of two but I’m the “problem”. The pier is at the Point. It may have seemed like my yard as you were probably peeking around the trees to sneak your party on. You complained about the last Airbnb you stayed at due to no lighting outside. I wonder if they wouldn’t allow you back. Hosts work hard to provide the very best for their guests. When a guest breaks the rules like you did, it’s not the hosts fault. I should have cancelled your contract. But instead your unauthorized party carried on. All the best Angela, For all the hosts that give 100% and care about their property and investment, I would not recommend renting to Angela Solar.

Highly recommended and we will return here for sure. What a beautiful place Virginia and Stephen have created! The house is very private, built in a clearing in the forest close to the banks of the lake. Guests can use the provided kayaks and canoes on the lake whenever convenient and to access the private pier. The house has been beautifully appointed - recently built, so all modern conveniences such as air conditioning, an enclosed gas effect fire, beautiful shower room and kitchen with dishwasher, coffee machine and microwave. One bedroom is on the mezzanine with a view down to the sitting room - and the other bedroom at ground level where the washing machine and separate dryer and stored in a cupboard. Stephen and Virginia live in the main house close-by, so are on hand to deal with any queries or to give advice on local restaurants etc. It was a particular treat for our girls to meet their well-loved rescue donkeys who are kept in a field between the two houses.

Make yourselves comfortable and please treat the property as you would your own home. The Short Term Rental Agreement will be forwarded via Docusign after booking. Payment Policy
Full or 1/2 payment due at booking. Square is the payment processor. Credit/debit cards are not kept on file. A payment reminder will be sent 3 weeks prior to arrival. Guest will need to re-enter card info for balance processing.
Cancellation Policy
CANCELLATION POLICY Travelers who cancel at least 14 days before check-in will get back 100% of the amount paid. If cancelling between 7 and 14 days before check-in, travelers will get back 50%. Otherwise, no refund will be given.
