If you are considering Big Bear or Running Springs....

Running Springs sits at 6100' elevation and is on the west side of mountain, easier and faster to reach from Riverside, San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties.

Big Bear Lake sits at 6800' elevation and is on the backside of mountain. You will drive through Running Springs on the way to Big Bear.

Running Springs is a small tranquil town and Big Bear is more of a hustle and bustle town. We are conveniently located to all the main attractions on the mountain.

Driving home from Running Springs you will have less traffic and a shorter time on the windy roads.

Many guests take day trips to Bear Valley Dam in Big Bear which is only 13 miles away along the beautiful and scenic drive on Rim of The World highway which, also goes to Silverwood

Lake @ 23 miles away.

What a lovely and cozy cabin, with a great taste of the hosts, peaceful and quiet surroundings. From the first moment we felt like home. The cabin has everything you would ever need. We enjoyed our time with family and friends. The kids had their own downstairs floor with the TV, bathroom , and access to the backyard . They enjoyed it so much. Ernie is very nice and helpful host. We looking forward to coming back to this beautiful place..

My sibling and his family were visiting and additionally my two sons were injured. Ernie was helpful with suggestions and being Christmas he surprised us with a Christmas tree. This was something we didn’t expect and we truly appreciate the gesture. We drove around but mostly stayed in. The place was comfortable and suitable for a large family of 7. I had forgotten to bring an inflatable and was pleasantly surprised Ernie had a cot in one of the rooms. Some things we felt would have been nice, to lit the fire pit but we struggled to figure this out. Didn’t take away the fun! The dishwasher was not working but we managed to use disposable utensils and pre prepared food so we only used the microwave. We tried using the oven but there was smoke coming out so we turned It off. Other than that which are minor things we enjoyed our stay very much.

The location was gorgeous and the drive up was pretty. The house is spacious, comfortable, and organized. The downstairs room doesn’t have a door, but it’s secluded so it’s not much of an issue. It was the perfect distance from town as well as from the lake.

We had an amazing stay - it was the perfect place to enjoy some quiet and relaxing time at this beautiful home which was very spacious and comfortable. The check-in/check-out process was extremely easy and Ernie was great at communicating prior to our arrival. Will definitely come back when an escape from the hustle and bustle is needed - the home was secluded enough for privacy but also close enough to restaurants, shops and other activities! By booking The Ponderosa Cabin, you acknowledge and agree to abide by these house rules.

🏡 House Rules – THE PONDEROSA CABIN

✅ No Smoking – This is a non-smoking home. The mountain area is high-risk for wildfires. Smoking of any kind (including e-cigarettes and cannabis) is strictly prohibited inside the property. A $500 fine applies for violations.

🚫 No Parties or Events – Large gatherings, no unauthorized parties or guests, and events are not allowed. If reported, you may be asked to leave without a refund.

⏳ Check-In & Check-Out

Check-in: After 4:00 PM
Check-out: 11:00 AM sharp. A late check-out without approval may result in an additional $50 per hour fee.

🐾 Pet Policy

Pets must be kenneled overnight and supervised at all times.
Any pet damage or excessive cleaning required will result in additional charges.
Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.

🏠 Respect for the Property

Do not remove any items from the house.
Please contact us immediately if anything breaks, so we can resolve it quickly.
Any damage beyond normal wear and tear or missing items will be charged to the guest.

💧 Water & Energy Conservation – We are in a mountain environment where resources are precious. Please use water and electricity responsibly.

🗑 Trash & Recycling – Dispose of garbage properly in the designated bins. Do not leave trash outside, as it attracts wildlife.

⚖ City Ordinance Violations – The Ponderosa Cabin operates in compliance with local short-term rental regulations. If the city issues a fine due to a violation caused by a guest (e.g., noise complaints, occupancy limits, parking violations, etc.), the full amount of the fine will be charged to the guest.

Please realize we care dearly for our home but can't be in it all the time, so we share it by renting and hope to continue till potentially transition to full time in a few years. 🔐 Security Deposit Policy – The Ponderosa Cabin

1️⃣ Security Deposit Amount & Payment
A $300 refundable security deposit is required for all reservations.
The deposit will be held via Stripe (or collected manually if applicable) at the time of booking.
2️⃣ Security Deposit Use & Deductions
The security deposit covers potential:
✅ Damage beyond normal wear and tear
✅ Missing or broken items
✅ Excessive cleaning required after checkout
✅ Unauthorized late check-outs
✅ City fines due to guest violations (e.g., noise, parking)

If no issues arise, 100% of the deposit is refunded within 3 days of checkout.

3️⃣ Damage Reporting
Guests must report any accidental damage immediately.
Minor wear-and-tear is expected, but significant damage, lost items, or extra cleaning fees will result in deductions.

4️⃣ Refund Process & Timeline
After checkout, the property is inspected within 24 hours.
If no issues are found, the full deposit is refunded within 3 days.
If deductions are needed, an itemized breakdown of charges will be provided before processing any refund.

5️⃣ Full Deposit Forfeiture

The full deposit may be forfeited in cases of:
🚫 Smoking inside the property ($300 fine)
🚫 Unapproved pets or excessive pet damage
🚫 Tampering with security devices (WiFi, cameras, etc.)
🚫 Unauthorized pets, guests or parties
🚫 Major property damage requiring professional repairs

By booking The Ponderosa Cabin, the guest agrees to these Security Deposit Policies and understands that any deductions or city fines resulting from guest actions will be charged accordingly.
