Mahalo for your feedback and glad that you had a fun week. Sorry about the pool gate and light. We now have the gate fixed right as soon as you depart. The gate is made of stainless steel so it took a bit of time to find the right solution, the right person. We blocked two weeks this April to fix the gate as well as have the interior painted. As you mentioned, our home needs TLC and it is correct that we are now working on it. For changing the pool light, we were not able to change the pool light for you right away. It requires emptying the pool water to gain access to change the light bulb, after changing the light, it would take time to fill the water and heat the water. Last week, we discovered that the light bulb is good but, the electrical wire is disconnected from the switch. We have our electrician working on this pool wire. Hopefully, we can get this fix soon. We agree it would be nice to swim in the pool, seeing beautiful dolphins/ whales/ turtles mosaic even at night. Our home is in an excellent location where you can enjoy the great views! The home is facing the ocean and tradewinds which make your stay enjoyable but at the same time, we constantly make improvements to our Orchid home due to being so close to the ocean.

Response:Aloha Michael, we are glad to hear that you had a great time seeing the sunrise every day as soon as you are awake :) It means a lot to hear that our home is an exceptional family gathering home at a great location. We just have the Lutron motorized shade installed to help block the morning light while you can still enjoy the panoramic ocean view. The shade was left up, unobstructing the ocean view at all times and could not bring it down while you were staying. All these large windows have 3M UV filter film coated so no harmful UV light could get inside. We called for shade service but we could not get anyone to work during the holiday immediately. As soon as the Lutron technician came, they fixed it in a second! The electric cord tube was stuck to the edge of the shade. She twisted the cord and secured it. Then the shade can be moved down right away. I wish I knew this, next time, I know how to fix it. Since this is a nice expensive auto-shade, it is new to us and we thought the signal communication between the remote and the shade receiver was messed up, it might need to reset. We now know there is no need to reset, just need to check the mechanical part.
For the living room couches, we have two brand new couches and want to please your group. Later we learned that the cushion is firm, not satisfy you. Extra cushion seats were used during your stay. We removed these new sofas and replaced them with a new large sofa set with softer seats. We are not able to return the sofas, we put one of them in the reading room opposite the day-bed in the reading room. So now up to 4 children can sleep in the reading room.

Exceeded Expectations!
"Orchid House" was Exceptional in every way!
We booked this vacation 11 months before our arrival (end of May/June 2024). Before I mention the house itself, I want to praise the staff for their stellar communications with us. We had lots of questions which were answered promptly and thoroughly. Every stage from booking to planning to anticipating to arriving to staying at Orchid House was met with the most personalized interest and assistance. From our experience, this is rare and very special.
The ocean views were extraordinary! The accommodations were well-designed and thoughtfully appointed. Bedrooms were beautiful and comfortable. Everything we could possibly need was already there. Every aspect from house, grounds and pool were beautifully clean and in good order.
The pool was fabulous and enjoyed many hours a day by all. It was deep enough for swimming and water games. For little kids, there was a small shallow pool.
There was a huge supply of pool & beach equipment including boogie boards, snorkels, fins, life jackets, floaties, chairs, umbrellas and a wagon.
Our group of 10 enjoyed every part of this dream vacation and we would be love to return in the future.

Large house with great views
The house was spacious for the 7 of us with great views. Property manager was very helpful. Lots of beach things available to use. Some minor things in the pool area (gate, lights, etc) need some TLC

Wonderful house!!
This house was perfect for my kids and grandkids! Plenty of room for everyone! Pool area was great and the house had so much outdoor gear! Property manager was great and very knowledge! Would definitely come back to the Orchid house!

Beautiful and Peaceful Vacation in Kauai
We had a wonderful vacation in Kauai. We left the Klondike conditions in Utah and was able to totally relax in this beautiful home in Poipu Beach.
The Orchid House was very roomy, clean and comfortable. Everyone had their own space, their own bathroom. We had 4 couple and a baby. The family/dining area was so nice to gather in. We had prepared several meals there and the kitchen is completely stocked with everything you would need to cook a 5 course meal. The views are absolutely breathtaking. We enjoyed the pool. The beds were very comfortable.
Evan, the property manager was top notch, and actually met us there upon arrival. He was was very helpful and answered every question we had.
I would highly recommend the Orchid House to anyone who will be planning a trip to Kauai with a family. We hope to return sooner than later!

Beautiful Sunrise
The location was great to see the sunrise from the master deck every day. It was a very spacious house with a great layout of rooms. Our only concerns were the living room electric shades did not work, so it was too bright to enjoy the living room in the mornings, also the living room's new couches had very hard cushions.

great family vacation
Our family had an amazing time with our family of 9 here for a summer vacation. It was great to spend afternoons relaxing in the pool after morning trips to the beach. And we all loved having our own bathrooms and large closets in each room. Tons of beach equipment and pool toys to use - we brought our own snorkeling gear but ended up using theirs. The sunrise views from the main floor are unreal!
