From the country setting to the cosy and relaxed environment. We have created a very comfortable interior for your rest and relaxation.
In the country but close to the city of Canterbury, Whitstable beach and historic Faversham. With walks and wildlife a plenty. You will love staying here as you have nothing to do but take in the cosy comfort and charming surroundings and laze as you see fit.
The Goods Truck has had many uses from its primary function in the 1930s. It has been in our garden for over 30 years. In the 80's it was used to house goats as the lady who lived here at the time made and sold goats milk and cheese at the local farmers markets. Since then it has been a shed, a dry store for cut flowers a rabbit house (pretty grand) and a laundry room.
Then in September 2024 we decided to really develop it into something to enhance our property and have our own little escape hut. We loved it so much that we wanted to share it with others.
The Goods truck has a king size bed build in at one end with a small but beautifully formed kitchenette (in the center) with all you need for light cooking and drinking. The far end is the shower room with sink and draw unit, toilet and tiled shower cubicle.
All new and pristine.
The exterior is a solid iron frame work clad in shiplap cladding with a corrugated tin roof. When making the roof in the carriage we painstakingly cut and hand sanded (to round off all edges) each strip to enhance the curve of the roofline.
We have parking available for visitors (one car). The Goods Truck is situated just to the left of our house in relatively close proximity but hidden behind a log stack and planting. You will walk up the drive and through our out buildings on the left to emerge in a delightful rustic patio/decking area that is your private space.
After parking up. Knock on the front door and we will be very happy to guide you from there.
We are contactable via phone and we are always happy to help and guide you to local attractions and walks etc
Situated on a country lane, We are a detached property slightly set back from the road. In the village less than half a mile there is a great little cafe selling all things vegetarian plus an array of loose leaf teas and fresh coffees and cakes which is very popular. There is also a local pub, The Red Lion by Shepherd Neame our local brewing co. You can if you wish get a train from Selling station to Faversham or Canterbury again half a mile from us. Or if you feel the need to stretch your legs a four mile walk will take you into Faversham a lovely historic town with some beautiful vintage and second hand shops + market day on Saturdays.
If you like a bit of glamour there is a comfortable walk away called "Cave" Golf resort and Restaurant + cocktail deck. Just saying!
The seaside town of Whitstable is 7 miles away and the new Domaine Evremond vineyard owned by Taittinger are now running tours and tastings, just 1 mile down the road.
Car is best to get here but you can also do it by train (20 minute walk through the fields) to get to us.
We are a great stop over if you are traveling via the shuttle (40mins drive away). Dover is 40 minutes drive away or by direct train from Selling.
I like to add a touch of home comfort so you will have a few light breakfast options added to your stay to include, a pastry, tea , coffee and milk, breakfast juice, granola or porridge, yogurt and a snack.
We are a non smoking property.
All new and pristine.
