Glanrhyd offers plenty of open living space for up to 6 guests. From the Victorian glass-panelled front door you enter a modest entrance hall with coat rack and boot storage, with access directly upstairs to the snug, an under eave space with beanbags, TV, and Playstation 3, as well as games and DVDs, a space for teenagers to hang out. These stairs also provide access to the first and second floor bedrooms and bathrooms.
To the left of the stairwell you enter into a large, light living and dining space. The living area is towards the front of the space and is crowned by a large bay window to the front. With a two-seater sofa and chairs facing both the Smart TV and the roaring small log burner, this is the perfect area to chill out of an evening after a day in the famous mountains beyond.
The dining area sits atop beautiful tiled floors. The six-seater wooden dining table allows for family feasts and gives each member of your party enough room to eat, play games, and hang out. A door leads into the ample kitchen at the rear of the property, which is beautifully decorated and houses all the modern appliances. You’ll find an electric oven with induction hobs, fridge freezer, washer dryer, kettle, toaster, and coffee maker (a small range of pods are provided), as well as a stainless-steel sink and plenty of large storage shelves all around.
Three bedrooms sit over two floors; the first floor offers a large double bedroom to the front of the property, a king-sized bedroom (which can be changed into twin beds upon prior request) as well as ample wardrobe space and seating, Smart TV and dedicated desk space for remote working. Towards the middle of the first floor, a small double houses a 4ft bed suitable for a single guest or two cosily. This snug room also has hanging space and a chest of drawers. On the top floor, the large double bedroom, which sits under the property’s original beams, has a large double bed, wall-mounted Smart TV, and a small working desk with a skylight. This room’s most stunning feature is the view directly towards the mighty Cader Idris from the large front windows.
This property boasts two family bathrooms. On the first floor, the bathroom has a large walk-in drencher shower with a beautifully tiled floor, WC, wash hand basin, heated towel rail and mirror. On the second floor, there is a drencher shower, heated towel rail, WC, and wash hand basin, and the stunning, contemporary freestanding bath, with floor lighting for a touch of elegance, as well as a large skylight. The perfect place to soak-away a long hike or day on the bike.
The kitchen's back door leads to a small patio area with access to the lane at the back of the property. For guests bringing equipment for adventure sports, such as mountain bikes, this offers access to a storage area inside a black gate for secure storage on the premises.
You have the use of the entire townhouse. The property can be accessed from the front and rear, with space to store bikes in the utility room situated off the small patio.

Dolgellau is a bustling market town full of ancient stone buildings, restaurants, grand hotels, and historic sites. The area is known for its wild, beautiful countryside on the edge of the Mid Wales mountain ranges. Dolgellau also sits along a beautiful estuary, surrounded by mountains, making it a picture-perfect holiday destination.
Being at the foot of Cader Idris, Dolgellau is known for its exquisite hiking trails. The Precipice Walk is a circular walk that stretches over parts of the 12th-century Nannau estate. Passing through deciduous woodland and overlooking the Mawddach Estuary towards the incomparable Snowdonia Mountain ranges, this is a great walk for the family as, despite its name, it’s a fairly easy hike, only around 5km in distance and has fantastic views.
Climbing Cader Idris itself is a little more challenging. At 2.930 feet, it’s the highest mountain in southern Snowdonia. While it’s a popular challenge, the hike to the summit can take 5 hours, so you might want to use the bathroom at the car park by the foot of the mountain before leaving. The Pony Path heads up the mountainside to the stony cliffs above Llyn y Gader, the fantastic lake. Take in the incredible views of the Mawddach estuary and Barmouth before scrambling to the trig point.
If coming down rocky, watery canyons is more your style, then a 30-minute drive takes you to the National White Water Centre, Bala. The raging natural rapids are perfect for learning to white water raft or canoe in the most beautiful surroundings. If you’re taking your family, be aware that the minimum age is 12 to take part at the world-class venue.
Perhaps you prefer careering up and down mountains on two wheels? Coed y Brenin Mountain Biking Centre, Bala, is popular with mountain bikers worldwide and is situated in Coed y Brenin Forest Park. You can hire bikes, follow trails, walk through the stunning forest, or stop for a cup of tea and a welsh cake at the café.
Of course, at Glanrhyd, you’re only a short distance from the mid-Wales coast and the breathtaking beaches of Cardigan Bay. Fairbourne beach is a mere 8 miles away, and Tal-y-Bont beach is only 10 miles away. Both are fantastic stretches of sand that are ideal for family days at the beach.
Barmouth, the popular Victorian seaside resort, is only a 20-minute drive from your accommodation. Why not make it a walking destination? Mawddach trail runs from Dolgellau to Barmouth. This 9.5-mile route is the former railway line and is now an official family-friendly, traffic-free scenic route along the estuary of Afon Mawddach.
To make the most of everything Snowdonia National Park and Dolgellau have to offer, we recommend having access to a car during your stay. There's a private parking bay a short walk from the property, and for extra cars, there's a public car park just two minutes walk away.
There's plenty to see on foot around Dolgellau and the mountain trails are directly accessible from the town.
