Rest, relax and play on Watuaga Lake! Enjoy the outdoor living spaces, take in the lake views, and watch the kids play in the quiet cove from the comfort of the wraparound porches. At the water, you will find room to fish, sunbathe, swim, or just unwind. Just outside the secluded cove is a large bay away from the main channel, perfect for water activities. Bring your boat and launch at the nearby Little Milligan boat ramp or rent a boat from a local marina and keep it docked in the boat slip during your stay. Christie and Donaven both agree, there is no better place to be than on Watauga Lake in the Cherokee National Forest. Donaven is a Realtor, vacation rental manager, and the proud dad of two teenagers, a daughter Ella, and a son Donaven. Christie is also a Realtor and teaches 8th grade ELA at Hampton Elementary School. The entire family loves to ride bikes, hike, spend time on the golf range, shoot skeet, jet ski, boat, swim and hang out on the lake or sit out by a campfire.

Getting around

Skipping Stones Getaway is located just off of a well traveled two lane road and is on a paved road. Four wheel drive or navigating steep driveways will not be necessary. During the winter, the main road is plowed first and kept up regularly.

You'll want to grocery shop before you arrive but there is a Dollar General 8 minutes away for any last minute items.

  • Quiet hours after 10:00 pm; turn off outdoor speakers.
  • Indoor fireplaces are off during warm weather months and may not be used.
  • Fire pit: Wild fires/forest fires are always of concern. Ensure your fire does not pose a risk, and maintain it accordingly. Individuals that are found to have started a wild fire/forest fire can be held liable.
  • Use of canoe, kayaks, paddle boat, paddle board and any other water activity carries risks that may result in serious injury or death, and unsupervised use by children is prohibited. TWRA requires all children under 13 to wear life vests at all times and adults must have a life vest available while on any craft. While we offer a variety of life vests, guests are responsible to ensure they have and use an appropriate life vest.
  • No wake permitted in cove or within 200 ft of any dock or shoreline.
  • Jet skis, and the upper sundeck of the dock are off limits at all times.
