Tucked down the side of the mountain on 3.43 acres with private access to Upper Creek, relax and unwind at Rohos Cabin - named for the funniest man to ever live in Burke County, NC - Roho, M.D., stand up comedian (and my dad).

Listen to the relaxing sounds of the creek from the deck or while floating in the provided tubes. Practice the art of pause by filling and firing up the wood burning hot tub - a unique way to connect with nature during a chemical free soak. Relax in the cabin by the wood stove with board games, puzzles, books, and DVDs. Once you are fully recharged, explore the mountains with a drive or hike in the Linville Gorge, go off roading at Brown Mountain OHV trails, go fishing at Wilson’s Creek, or grab a meal in Morganton or Lenoir. Check out all the 5 star reviews - our guests love Roho’s Cabin. 🐓 You will too.

Post Hurricane Helene, be sure to check to see if your preferred activities have reopened - much is available, but some areas are still recovering.

There’s plenty to do in Morganton (20 minutes to downtown) and Lenoir (25 minutes away). Only 7 miles to the Brown Mountain OHV trails (34 miles of off roading trails) and Brown Mountain Beach Resort, 9 miles to Upper Creek Falls, 12 miles to Wilson’s Creek, 13.5 miles to Hawksbill Mountain, 17 miles to Linville Falls, 18 miles to Table Rock, 24 miles to Grandfather Mountain. Or take a day trip to Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, Boone, Black Mountain, or Asheville - all less than an hour drive.

Neighbors across the creek are cows and donkeys (they are not always in that field); Daniel Boone Campground neighbors to the North. Steele Creek Park is across 181.

Our Goodland wood burning (soaking) hot tub nestled high under the rocks with a fantastic view of the creek and valley is truly an epic experience, but it is one you must WORK for. The soaking (no jets) hot tub is sanitized and left empty after each stay. You will need to rinse it, fill it with fresh water (pumped from the creek), and then heat the water with a wood fire (unless you prefer a cold plunge!). The process takes from 2.5-4 hours, but the reward is well worth it. It is a unique experience that requires slowing down to enjoy the ritual of building the fire, heating the water and enjoying a chemical free, environmentally friendly soak. Goodland calls it the pursuit of pause - and we highly recommend it. Firewood is provided, along with towels, robes, a towel warmer, and a natural bath bomb.

Up to two dogs allowed with $100 pet fee, subject to approval at time of booking. Please provide the breed and size of your dog(s) when requesting to book and you will be asked to agree to some basic rules to keep your furry friend and Rohos Cabin safe and cozy.

Driveway is steep and narrow - front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive recommended. Drive slowly (and bravely) and you’ll be fine.
Or you can park at the upper parking area and take the stairs down the mountain.

Winter weather warning:
We rarely have ice or snow at the elevation of Roho’s Cabin (it occurs much more frequently about 10 more miles up the mountain), so it is unlikely to occur during your stay.
However- the driveway down to Roho’s Cabin is not drivable if there is snow or ice. The upper portion of the driveway to the upper parking area would likely be drivable in light snow or ice - it is gravel and not as steep, but it may not be scraped/cleared. Parking in the upper parking area means taking the steps (nearly 100 steps) down the mountain to Roho’s Cabin (and back up!) - or walking down the driveway. Please keep this in mind for visits in the winter. If you realize there will be winter weather during your booked days and would like to cancel reschedule, we are happy to accommodate. We don’t want anyone to feel unsafe.

Enjoy the provided linens, towels, and earth friendly products (such as Grove) - naturally derived hair products and soaps, recycled trash bags, etc. Cleaning products used are also earth friendly.

This is a great place to disconnect!
Starlink satellite internet with wifi is available and typically works well but is probably not as fast as you’re used to. DVDs, books, games, and puzzles are available for some internet free entertainment. Cell service is spotty.

Living space is 526 square feet. Hardwood floors in living room; laminate flooring in other rooms. Several steps up to deck for entry. Washer and dryer are in walkout basement.

Small bedroom has a queen size bed with a Lucid 12” hybrid mattress. 32” TV with DVD player, alarm clock, and charging ports in bedroom.

Living room offers a full-size daybed with twin trundle, loveseat and rocking recliner, 50” TV with DVD player and wood stove. Small dining area is open to living room and just outside the kitchen.

Full kitchen has an apartment size electric range (4 burners and small oven) and a retro style 12 cubic ft fridge with freezer. Countertop ice maker, microwave and Cuisinart toaster oven /air fryer provided. No dishwasher- sorry. Cookware, plates, utensils, etc. all provided, as well as basic pantry items. Drip coffee maker makes a full pot or a cup at a time using ground coffee or pods. Compostable coffee pods, sugar and half & half provided. French press also available.

Ceiling fans in living room, bedroom and kitchen. Powerful mini split for electric heat and air conditioning throughout.

Outside enjoy views and sounds of the creek from two levels of decks. Propane grill and outdoor seating provided. Rock patio with seating located closer to the creek. Rock fire pit with seating - please check local burn warnings before using it and pour water on it after use. If you see firewood stacked nearby, feel free to use it. Outdoor items provided include Cornhole, floats, camp chairs, sand toys, water squirters, and giant Jenga.

Or jump on in the water - we are creek front with private creek access via a rock path down to the creek. For your safety, shoes should be worn at all times outdoors, including in the creek.

BUGS - this is the woods by a creek- bugs love it here (can you blame them?). Expect bugs outside and bring your favorite repellent. Hopefully none will make it inside.

Security camera is located on entry side of the property to monitor the entry area and driveway.

Agreement to terms of Vacation Rental Agreement required - proceeding to booking = agreement.

Or you can park at the upper parking area and take the stairs down the mountain.
