I shared your feedback with my Maintence company, Cleaning Company and both preventative pest control companies; outside of my own personal hands on investigation. I live here locally ;). I do stay very involved, including quality checks on my properties. As I always appreciate "truthful" feedback.
It's important point out... if things were so dissatisfactory during your stay; why did you not mention these items to me in the phone call to you or the many messages between us prior to check out? Why did you choose to wait till AFTER your week stay to share your concerns of the property? Unfortunately, I have no control over the humidity you mentioned in your text, nor the fact the house in your opinion is not downtown but really it is..it's is located downtown between 6th & 7th off Osprey Ave in Gillespie Park. No other way to spin that says Google Maps ;) No it's, not on the beach as you expressed you guys were really wanting; however, if 3/2 beachfront homes are available they are literally 3-5 times the price of what you guys paid to stay in downtown Sarasota, 7 minutes from the beach.
Upon receiving your text, I immediately drove straight to the property to inspect, put an inspection request from Maintence & also BOTH of my preventative pest control companies. Note: In all my years of experience of rentals...I find 9 times out of 10...most people don't communicate feedback till after they've left the property intentionally & it's "review time;" BECAUSE... really what is going on...a guest is just looking for discounts or refunds, knowing the Host is anticipating the guest review. 9 times out of 10, feedback has elements of truth, untruths & feedback with exaggeration of issues. I cannot say this feedback scenario does not align with such.
Regarding a "bug infestation" Upon my investigation, maintenance, & one of my preventative pest control companies there were no signs of active "black bugs." It was suggested perhaps the black bugs came in with you guys in your cereal box. We do have ants in Florida, small black, red...everywhere & they do their best to find ways inside..so preventative ant boxes, which were still in place in the Kitchen when I inspected...were there. The cleaning company, as my requirement upon every single exit clean.... showed they removed all food, condiments any prior guest left prior to your check in on their log.
Regarding the floors: I did do inspection after the guest before you checked out; All interior floors are mopped by the cleaning company & showed that was the case in their log.
Regarding the outdoor balcony: The cleaning company could not confirm if they mopped it or cleaned the chairs. I did address this; thank you for making me aware. However, I'm also realistic...as the balcony floors & chairs will never be perfect...being downtown has an immense amount of new construction dust, pollen, etc. that drops in the night with the moisture in the air coming down.
'Giant Dust Balls" Seriously? I did do a quality inspection for the guest check out prior to your check in... and there were no dust balls or dust period. Giant Dust Balls don't develop within 48 hours..Nor were there any after your check out. Possibly what appeared to be "dust" under the beds was actually lint. When folks sleep in the beds, roll around in them at night...as I assume you and all your guest did- linen, cotton and any feather pillow lint drop below the beds...gravity. The cleaning company provided me pictures as well from their exit clean process before your check in and no dust balls appeared present.
Regarding the one fan not working-it has dual switches and maintenance said that one of the switches was not turned on correctly. Both balcony fans work.
Regarding bed post-they were supposed to be secured, upon my inspection they were not. Thank you for bringing it to attention.
Regarding the TV armoire-It's 300 years old. Came from Europe. The nails are not nails, but they are latches on the "BACK" of the door that unless your baby is almost 4 ft tall and crawls to the back could not reach.
Regarding the staircase, The handrail is on the left and compliant with ADA. Handrails where you are suggesting, would be a hazard and prohibitive to space needed for entry/exit. For those in the guest party that may be elderly & have mobility issues; I always recommend the primary bedroom and bath for their stay as all the doors are 36" including the entrance to the bathroom and shower accommodates walk-in/roll in mobility. I understand Grandma wanting to be close to her grandchild; however, both play-n-pack/cribs can be placed in that downstairs bedroom with plenty of room for mobility.
Thank you for appreciating the play-n-pack which remained unopened (You had access to 2 during your stay) along with the baby's bathtub, high chair, baby mattress, & baby sheets I had delivered to you the night of your check in.
I'll end with this feedback for you; had you let me know of your list of negatives while still in the house; I actually had a beach house on Siesta Key available during your time of stay, all one level with NO STAIRS, baby gear & baby furniture...I would have been happy to have moved you & your family to that beach house...Of course, the humidity I can't help you there...would be worse at the beach; but I think really the source of your disappointment; was you were downtown... not at the beach & the humidity in Southwest Florida really was not your cup of tea...Again had you just communicated. Communication is Key. I strive on making sure everyone is happy within my abilities that are realistic. You & your family would've been no exception.
Thank you Jessica and may you have better AirBNB experiences in your future AirBNB stays. Kind Regards, Owner & Host, Melissa
