Whether it's multiple couples seeking privacy or a multigenerational family searching for bonding moments, this cabin caters to every need with its spacious layout and welcoming ambiance.
Bear Necessities Lodge offers an elevated experience: park at the ground-level garage, move up to the inviting main floor on the second level to enter the cabin, and retreat to the peaceful top floor, which is three stories high. This layout provides beautiful views, but it does involve climbing multiple flights of stairs.
MAIN FLOOR: Enter the main floor, where two bedrooms await, each adorned with a luxurious king-size bed, nightstands, dressers, and 50-inch Smart TVs for ultimate relaxation. The main floor bathroom features a combined bathtub and shower for a soothing bathing experience. Cozy up in the living room by the wood-burning stove (complimentary firewood provided), around a full-size sofa, a loveseat, and a rocker. A 70-inch Smart TV with a sound bar offers entertainment galore. The fully-stocked kitchen and dining room complete this floor.
TOP FLOOR: Ascend to the top floor, where an additional king bedroom offers vistas of the lush greenbelt behind the property. Indulge in the top-floor bathroom's jacuzzi-style bathtub with a handheld shower massager, providing a spa-like retreat (please note, this bathroom does not include a shower). Upstairs, a loft area beckons with two twin beds, perfect for adults or kids to unwind. On a clear day, guests can catch a mountaintop view from the loft's large picture window.
OUTDOOR LIVING: Step onto the expansive walk-around deck to savor mountaintop and wildlife views. Rocking chairs beckon for moments of relaxation amidst Angel Fire's breathtaking scenery. Grill enthusiasts can indulge in smoking or grilling meats and vegetables on our pellet grill. Unwind by the fire pit, conveniently located off the front deck stairs, where six chairs surround a Solo stove, creating the perfect ambiance to reflect on the day's adventures and observe local wildlife.
UPDATE AS OF 3/25/2025: Colfax County (which includes Angel Fire) has issued a burn ban effective immediately due to high fire risk conditions. As a result, all smoking on the premises, using the Solo stove in the fire pit area, and using personal charcoal grills are NOT permitted. Only the onsite Traeger pellet grill or personal propane grills are allowed.

1. Please refrain from lighting candles with an open flame indoors; instead, enjoy our provided flameless candles.
2. Fires should only be built in the living room's wood stove or in the designated outdoor fire pit area using the Solo stove. When cleaning the Solo stove, or taking ashes out of the wood stove, NEVER put hot ashes in grass or around trees as this can cause a forest fire.
3. Ensure all trash is not left outside to prevent bears and other wildlife from accessing it.
4. Be vigilant with young children around stairs, as falls can occur, and around the wood stove and outdoor fire pit to prevent burns.
5. If marijuana or cigarette/cigar/vaping odors are detected in the cabin, an extra charge of $500 will be applied. No smoking anywhere other than on the grass or driveway, or on the porch away from doors. Small metal buckets are provided for discarded cigarette butts.
6. Trash must be brought down to the Trash/Recycling Center in Angel Fire; there is no service on the mountain.

To receive a full refund, guests must cancel at least 30 days prior to check-in.
If you cancel between 7 and 30 days before check-in, you’ll be refunded 50% of the initial payment.
If you cancel less than 7 days before check-in, there is no refund.
Guests can receive a full refund if you cancel within 48 hours of booking, if the cancellation occurs at least 14 days before check-in.
SECURITY: Cameras are located outside the property for everyone's safety and benefit, facing the stairs of the deck, the driveway, and the parking area. There are no cameras located inside of the home.
HEATING/COOLING: Air conditioning is not a standard feature in our area due to the mild climate. Even during the summer months, outside temperatures typically hover in the 70s, ensuring a comfortable interior environment without the need for A/C. Guests can rely on the ceiling fans in all bedrooms, the living room, and the loft to maintain airflow and enhance comfort during warmer days. The outside covered deck also includes ceiling fans to keep you cool while enjoying the views. an A/C window unit in the living room. Combined with the ceiling fans, guests should stay cool even if temperatures rise in late July or August.
During winter, two heating sources—a central furnace and a wood stove—ensure cozy warmth throughout the cabin.
WILDLIFE SAFETY: This property is home to various wildlife. To ensure your safety:
- Store all food securely and do not leave anything outside.
- Make noise when outside to avoid surprising any animals.
- Do not approach wildlife.
- If you encounter a bear, stay calm, talk in a normal tone, and slowly back away. A bear spray can is in the downstairs linen closet next to the first aid kit.
- Do not leave any items in your vehicle, including food or scented products, as this can attract bears.

ANGEL FIRE RESORT ACCESS: Guests at Bear Necessities Lodge can enjoy access to Angel Fire Resort’s fantastic amenities for an additional fee, payable directly to the resort. At the Angel Fire Resort Country Club, you can work out in the fitness center or swim in the indoor pool year-round. In the summer, play a round on the golf course or a match on the tennis and pickleball courts. During winter, enjoy the sledding hill.
Additionally, guests can access the Angel Fire Resort Ski Area and Bike Park at an extra cost. In the summer, ride the chairlift to the summit for breathtaking views, hiking, disc golf, or mountain biking. In winter, hit the slopes for skiing, snowboarding, or tubing. You can also hike around Monte Verde Lake or rent fishing gear and watercraft like kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and pedal boats for a fun-filled day on the lake.
