Cozy and fun
Nine high school friends now in their 50s gathered for a long weekend here and laughed pretty much nonstop. We loved the open floor plan, as well as the large deck. Voices do carry in the house, reminding me of childhood sleepovers when we would shush whomever was giggling, but is probably worth mentioning for light sleepers. Thanks to Kim for being communicative and patient when I called with questions. Would definitely stay here again.

“Another great family vacation at Laurelwood Lodge”
This was our 2nd year of renting this cabin and I have to say my family was just as happy this time as last. Thank you, Kim, for making things so simple and easy for our stay. We had great weather this time around and got out to see some of the area. Our family loves just swimming at Mirror Lake, if it makes our grandkids happy that's all that counts. We are already making plans for next year.

30 day stay
We rented Lakewood Lodge for the month of October. The layout of the house was very good for the different family members who visited. This is a rustic log home in a remote, very quiet, gated community. The internet service was excellent; and the kitchen was very well stocked. Kim, and the housekeeper, Cindy, were very responsive. We found the gravel, curvy drive from the guard gate to the house difficult for such a long visit., with many in and out trips. The stairs from the street down to the house can be difficult to navigate, especially when wet. The game room with ping pong, pool, and air hockey provided family fun, especially on rainy days. The two TV's are not Smart TV's and the channel offering on Direct TV is limited. The pictures of the house on VRBO are accurate, except that the living room furniture has been changed.

Response:Christine, Thank you for being our guests! We enjoyed having you and your family at Laurelwood. Having a family here for 30 days gives us a different perspective on what may be needed for longer stays. We'd love to have you back again for another visit! We are glad that you got to enjoy the amenities and the game room. It's a popular place to be at night, especially with the younger family members. The roads are gravel but they are well maintained and easily traveled with a conventional vehicle. Most of the mountain communities in our area do have gravel roads and many require 4 wheel drive to navigate during the Winter. Fortunately our roads do not require that. It is indeed a quiet community and even though it seems remote, you were are actually only 8-10 minutes away from the Ingles Supermarket fore supplies. We do have 140 channel Direct TV with a couple of sport packages add-ons but we realize that different guests may have different taste in TV programming. Now that we have fast WIFI we are planning to upgrade the TV's and add ROKU to give guests more viewing choices. We always try to be open to what our guests needs are and truly value your input. Thanks again for staying!

“Very nice cabin ”
I would just like to say that Kim was very helpful and always available for any problems that arose. The cabin was clean and ready for us when we arrived. The master bedroom bed was very comfortable. my family was very happy with the set up and it worked well for us all. It was kind of deceiving from the pictures that the lake was not right there at the house. The pictures make it look like it is right on the property. The drive down to Mirror Beach is really no problem though. Having the use of the tubes, kayak, and canoes was great and luckily one of our sons had a truck to transport them. The kids loved the game room. The ingles store is one of the best stores I have ever been in and it was pretty convenient for grocery runs. Unfortunately tropical storm Henri came trough during our stay so we had major raining and we had some roof leaks but I was able to get ahold of the homeowner and they had someone out to see about it very quickly, we lost power for a short bit but it came back on fairly quickly so all was good. Riverbend seems to be a nice little community. It was very quiet and peaceful, in fact we were the only people there in our circle. Loved the swing on the front porch very peaceful. The kitchen is well stocked but could use a few updating on some things like the knives. I would over all say if you are looking for a great place to come then choose this place. I don't think you will be disappointed at all. We usually go to the beach for our family vacation but our kids loved this place so much they want to come back. We will definitely be booking again for next year. Thank you Kim for allowing our family to enjoy your place and for always being available to help even giving me info on places to eat. We really appreciate it and look forward to staying again.

A week of relaxation!
We enjoyed a relaxing week at this spacious log cabin, with enough room for everyone in our group and all we needed in the kitchen to prepare delicious family meals. We went to the lake in the neighborhood daily, used All Trails to choose 2 different hikes in the area, and visited Asheville one day. The neighborhood is quiet, and the home is nestled in a treed area, adding to the calm. Note: the home comes with 2 sit-upon and 1 sit-in kayak and 1 canoe, and many floats. We brought our own kayaks, but there really wasn't a need. The neighborhood lake is big enough for a satisfying paddle, and deep enough to stay cool. The local grocery store is a 15 minute drive away and has everything you'll need for your stay. The owners are super helpful in answering questions and providing information to ensure an enjoyable stay. It was a great week away from day-to-day life!

Our family works and lives in the Charleston area of SC. Spending a lot of time in coastal areas, we were attracted to the change in scenery in the mountains of Western, NC. In the summer of 2008 I stood outside under the balcony at the Lake Lure Inn, sipping my coffee and admiring the beauty of Lake Lure. Later that afternoon while walking along the Lake with our two small children, my wife and I began to talk about the adventure of building a log cabin in this peaceful place. The next weekend we returned to Lake Lure and began the process of looking at property. After two years of hard work Laurelwood Lodge was finished. We built Laurelwood to be a place where families could gather, socialize, unplug and enjoy nature. We love to hear the wonderful stories that our guests tell us about there time spent here. It's great to know that Laurelwood is part of the wonderful memories that so many families have experienced in Lake Lure.
