Beautiful house & neighborhood. Very easy to get in/out and the local beach at seaside was also very nice and peaceful. Noelle was very kind and communicative which I appreciated a lot!

All in all I had a comfortable stay here. The location is convenient to drive 15-20 mins to the Monterey bay aquarium, Carmel-by-the-sea, and the PCH. The hosts were very responsive and the check-in process was easy. The hosts also were very friendly. The bathroom was clean. The stay was slightly let down by a couple of things, first the noisiness of the home - you hear everything in the hallway and there was a lot of background clamor from the other rooms in the house, and second the bed wasn’t that comfortable - it is a pull-down wall bed.

I have mixed emotions about this place. On one hand, it is a home. It is very rare to find AirBnbs that are not actually someone's home but a rental property. It is clear this is an immaculately well kept beautiful home. Only minor thing I'd suggest is putting a picture of the steps that are needed to get into the place. They were mentioned in the notes, but pictures help make an informed choice. The neighborhood is also super safe. On the other hand, a home or a residential place works great when the host is home.I got locked out because the code to enter was in my phone and I left it in the house. Easy to solve if a host was there. But in more rental organized properties, the host usually offers you to set your own code. Also, when other guests came in and got really loud, leaving lights on throughout the night, a house owner being there would have reduced these issues. I think staying here when Noelle is in might be different

The cutest little room that really did brighten my stay with its creative colors and artistic design. I loved looking at all the art around the room and shared space. I really loved the daybed in the room where I spent most of my time reading while listening to the rain. Everything was as described. Would indeed stay again!

I'm Lebanese-American, grew up in Boulder, Colorado and have lived in London, Beirut and Cairo before coming to California. My husband, John, is Egyptian. I have a background in actor-created physical theatre and I taught Rhetoric and Composition for several years at universities. John was a journalist for a decade in the Middle East. At the moment we are dabbling in various types of writing and we run a non-profit organization that teaches creativity programs for children and Syrian refugees in particular. We have three small children.

Getting around

We are next to a bus stop with frequent service to the Fairgrounds, Downtown Monterey, Fisherman's Wharf, and the Aquarium (Jazz B - every 30 min), and just a short walk away from bus service to Carmel-by-the-Sea (bus 94 - every 2 hours) and shops (Jazz A - every 30 min). Unfortunately public transportation in general is not great in this area. It's possible to walk down the hill to some shops and restaurants, but much easier if you have a car. With a car, there is easy access to Carmel, Monterey, Pacific Grove and Salinas.

Notes
• The walls in the house are thin, and it is difficult for us to control the noise that other guests make. We do ask that everyone respect our quiet hours of 9pm-7am. If other guests are noisy, shoot me a message and I’ll do my best to address the issue. • We are just down the street from the fire station—which means that we're all set if we have an emergency—but we also have the pleasure of knowing every time anyone else does! • We are on a quiet main street next to a school. The street doesn't have much traffic, and this room is tucked away from the street, so that's not an issue. During school drop-off and pick-up times, it can be hard to find parking - otherwise there is plenty of room on the street in front of the house.
