I'm hard to please...We loved it!
I have to start by saying I have very bad allergies and a sensitive nose too and usually have trouble in every rental we stay in no matter how well it's cleaned but amazingly (even though there is a musty smell in a few of the bedrooms I think from the hot tub) but I didn't have any allergic reactions to this place! I also have high standards for cleaning and usually am disappointed but I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. It's cleaned very well! This house is nestled in the side of a mountain and yes it's a bit scary driving up the winding steep road to it the first few times but it's SO worth it!!! The mountain is peppered with lots of cabins but this house has one of the BEST views on the mountain. There are other cabins around but it's still very private and it feels secluded still. We loved the 2 wood burning fireplaces and they worked well(remember, bring your own wood). The home is cozy but spacious. The ONLY small critiques I have is the check in instructions came only just a few hours before we checked in so I got a little worried. The communication from the host was a bit hit and miss too during our stay regarding some hiking questions we had but we figured something else out. (Smoky mountain natl park trail head is down the road 20 minutes and an easy hike)
Another thing to note when you stay is that the internet is slow there but it's not the hosts fault(they've done everything possible with the wifi) it's just the mountains! It's hard to have quick internet in the mountains no matter what you do so just be prepared for it to be slow.
LOVED the shuffle board and pool table. Kitchen is a bit dark but we spent most of our time in the living room with the views. Also I am a tough critic of cleanliness of furniture. Even nice rentals have slightly stained or worn furniture but this rental furniture is great. Loved the couches and chairs! It was comfortable, beautiful and we will stay here again. It's exactly like the pictures! Highly recommend!

We have stayed in many cabins and have never had this VIEW! Great communication with the owners! Bedrooms were spacious and the pool table and shuffle board kept my boys entertained during the evenings. Very clean and has all the cutest little touches. Thanks again for a great stay!

Sisters' week in the mountains
The view was beyond description. Watching the sun come over the mountains every morning was stunning. The drive in and out for this property was exciting, too! The "fully stocked" kitchen left a few things out, such as a deeper and/or casserole dish, and bowls for serving, more silverware and dishes would have been nice. But we still enjoyed the layout and simplicity. Having 4 different porches to chose from was amazing. The shade umbrella was broke and the grill was pretty bad, but that just meant a different porch, and cooking inside. The stove had burnt stuff on the bottom, so we had trouble with the smoke alarm going off. We couldn't find anything to clean or scrape with, for the inside or the top of the stove. We did not find a dust pan after sweeping all the leaves and lady bug invasion, so just swept what we could out the door. One rocking chair had two screws missing, but we used our shoes to pound the wood together for sitting on. The inside windows with that stunning view had hand and face prints on it, but nothing to clean that with either. The filter in the door by the closet with the vacuum in it was clogged. We were able to at least vacuum up some of the lady bugs. haha.
We had trouble scanning the QR code to access WiFi, so did without on that (no big deal for us anyway.) Our overall impression was that this property was just amazing to get to, for relaxing, for visiting each other, and just soaking in the views and wildlife (yes, a bear went up the driveway while we were in the hot tub. We probably did not do everything the right way when we left. Most places leave a list posted showing what you should do, and for the WiFi. Keep in mind none of us are tech savy like the younger people, and we use cheap phones. We all agreed to stay there again next year for our sisters trip because of the solitude, the feeling of remoteness, and the overall beauty of this property. There is much to love about this spot!!!! Beds were comfy, bathrooms very clean, and the decor was awesome! So thank you for helping us have a great week!!!! Oh yes, a CD player would have been nice.

Miss it Already...
My family of 4 decided to take a trip for the Thanksgiving holiday. I searched and tagged about a dozen properties and decided on Happy Trails. I admit, I am a hard one to please. I read every review, I google locations, I zoom in on photos. Kind of crazy about finding the "perfect place." I'm an overachiever when it comes to planning trips. Happy Trails exceeded my expectations! First and most important, the property was clean. I never once felt like anything was dirty or that I had to touch up a space. Second, the views off the back balcony were hard to beat...it was beautiful. I loved the location. My kids were happy to see bears on our drive up to the house. It did take about 20-25 minutes to get to downtown Gatlinburg, but we were at least away from the hustle and bustle. We enjoyed the hot tub and pool table. We didn't really use the kitchen much as we ate out quite a bit, but it seemed to have everything you would need. I kept up on laundry and each kid had their own king size bed and tv in their room. Direct tv is what they use and there were plenty of movie channels. I would definitely stay here again. It was an easy process from start to finish. Unlike other vacation properties, all we had to do before leaving was standard things - pile up the bath towels, take out trash, make sure temps were set where desired, and start the dish washer. All in all, 10 out of 10.

Nice get-away
It was an interesting drive up the mountain but it was all good. The place was clean and comfy. We brought firewood for the firepit but it was just propane so we left wood for the next folks. There's a few things I would suggest that needed attention: grill, umbrella, bar code stickers on wall tin (these things weren't an issue but just OCD me). We had a good time though.
