Nestled in the scenic San Bernardino Mountains, our home is a picturesque destination perfect for guests looking to immerse themselves in nature and enjoy a range of seasonal activities. The lake area is known for its serene environment, providing a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
In winter, the area transforms into a snowy retreat, with the lake often freezing over, ideal for those interested in experiencing a white winter landscape. The surrounding mountains offer opportunities for snowshoeing and enjoying the crisp mountain air. The climate is cooler throughout the year, making it a refreshing getaway during the hot summer months.
Personal Vehicle: The most common way to access Green Valley Lake is by car. The roads leading up to and around the area, including Highway 18 and Highway 330, are well-maintained but can be winding and steep. In winter, these roads may require chains or a 4WD vehicle due to snow and ice.
Public Transportation: Public transport options are limited. There might be some regional bus services by Mountain Transit which provides routes connecting the mountain communities, including Green Valley Lake, to the San Bernardino Valley. However, services are less frequent than in urban areas.
Walking and Biking: Within Green Valley Lake itself, walking and biking can be pleasant ways to get around during the warmer months. The area offers a variety of trails and scenic routes. However, due to the terrain and the spread-out nature of the community, walking and biking might not always be practical for longer distances or during snowy months.
For visitors, having a personal vehicle is highly recommended to fully enjoy the range of activities the area offers and for convenient access to local amenities and attractions.
TRAVELING IN WINTER
• CalTrans can mandate all vehicles to carry snow chains between November 1st and April 30th. Chains are sold at most auto supply shops, hardware stores, and some convenience stores. We will not be held responsible and do not issue refunds if the city doesn't allow you up the mountain because your vehicle does not have snow chains.
TRAVELING IN SUMMER
• Green Valley Lake offers public access on WEEKENDS ONLY. Day passes are available for $3 per child and $10 per adult. Green Valley Lake also offers fishing passes, and rentals for rowboats, kayaks, pedal boats, and stand-up paddleboards.
• Lake Gregory is available to the public if traveling MIDWEEK. This lake is about 30-40 minutes from our cabin. Access passes range from $15 to $30. Lake Gregory features a beach, splash pad, waterslides, and an inflatable waterpark.
☆ Pet friendly: We are pet friendly at a fee of $75 per pet, per stay. Cleaning up after your pet is your responsibility. No pets are to be left unattended in the home. Barking dogs often result in neighbor complaints.
**Extra pet fees will be added through our guest portal after your reservation is confirmed. (Plus Tax) Please let us know if you are traveling with a pet.
☆ Backyard: While we do have a large backyard it is not fully fenced.
☆ Power outages are common within the Mountain Areas and are generally prompted by the power company directly. We strive to notify our guests in advance, but this is dependent on the power company notifying us in advance, which doesn't always happen. If an outage occurs during your stay, reach out to us and we'll be happy to send over flashlights if needed. Please note, we are not liable for outages during your stay.
