NO PARTIES and NO SMOKING NO EXCEPTIONS.This fully renovated 1920 bungalow with warm, inviting colors throughout comes fully stocked with everything you need during your stay.

The two bedrooms are cozy and comfortable. All linens are included (cool microfiber in the summer, flannel in the winter), digital clocks with usb ports and luggage racks in the closets.

The bathroom includes an antique claw foot bathtub with classy shower conversion (seriously though, take a soak, you'll love it!)

There is a utility room with a washer and dryer and laundry soap as well as an ironing board, a portable fan, a high chair that can be attached to the table, and a pack 'n play for folks with little ones.

The kitchen is complete with an electric stove/oven, microwave, toaster oven, spices, and all kinds of fun freebies in the pantry. Eat at the table, which has room for four to sit and eat.

In the living room you will find ample desk space at the large Tree of Life table (hand drawn and stained by the owner) as well as a charger and the two couches where you can watch tv (Netflix and Hulu included). The couches can be used for an extra place to sleep in a pinch. They aren't sleeper couches, but they are quite comfortable.

In nicer weather you may wish to sit on the front porch in the vintage glider or enjoy the enclosed back porch and sip coffee or practice yoga/meditation.

Guests are free to enjoy the very large, shared fenced yard and we are pet-friendly. We do ask that you keep your pets leashed as we share the yard and also have an Airstream Airbnb sharing the yard as well. Want to know more? Ask away!

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Christine and Dave’s. We’re driving across country and the gated, off the street parking was wonderful and made us feel ok to leave all of our belongings in the car overnight. The home is clean and there are thoughtful touches throughout. Christine was very responsive and helpful. It was the perfect place to stay for a restful night’s sleep.

The personal touches Christine made were amazing, I found myself in awe of her life when I read the binder about the home. It is beautiful in there! The security system had a problem completely arming the house because of something with the back door and I would’ve really appreciated that not happening just to feel safer staying there. You can tell she really wants you to feel at home. Maybe some water in the fridge would be helpful but other than that it was an easy and convenient stay!

we were going to the truman presidential library, and lodging in independence would have been more convenient. but the 15 minute drive was worth it to stay in this quirky, fun, homey house. loved the bedding, front porch, coffee set up, secure parking, art, positive notes, detailed instruction, and books. Christine popped over when we arrived to welcome us and chat. Great experience

The cottage was perfect for our quick stopover in KC. The space was comfortable, clean, and just the right amount of quirky. There were several touches that made you feel right at home. The only downside for us was that we couldn’t let our dog off leash as the yard was shared space. I look for fenced yards for that reason when we travel with him and was a bit disappointed after a 16 hour car ride. However, since we were only staying one night it wasn’t a big deal. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

I wish we had more time to enjoy Cottage West but we got in late and left early. Great back story on the house and loved the decor! My word for the house was "clever"! We met Dave as we arrived and he showed us around and was a pleasure to talk with. Christine & Dave thought of so many personal touches including lovely notes around the house to make sure you had a comfortable stay, a dog bed, toys, and bowls, and even ear plugs next to the bed (which were not needed). If we have to stay in the KC area again it will be here! Thanks Christine & Dave!

We shop at the Aldi's grocery store on Independence and The Paseo (aka MLK Blvd), and there are some fabulous places to eat nearby!
