Just 5 miles from the Main Nisqually Entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park, the cabin is situated in the recreational community of Bavarian Retreat. About a block away is a pond in the Paradise Estates Community that you may visit that we are members of. It is a nice place to stroll and see birds, roaming deer and otters occasionally fishing. Hiking is a short distance away in the Park or Federal/State Forests. You can grab a burger and blackberry pie at one of the local restaurants about 5 miles away. And remember to bring your favorite foods for grilling, but get your groceries before you are in Ashford. We don't have a regular grocery store!

A lovely cabin in the foothills of Mt Rainier, Stephen and Clarissa's place was a great comfort to come back to after a long day of hiking. The bed was comfortable and the property is simple and sweet! We would love to stay again in the future.

This cabin was perfect for our night away after a day in the Mt. Rainier National Park! Everything was clean when we arrived and the deck that wraps around the house is beautiful. I would say it’s the perfect amount of space for a group of 4 or so people for a couple of nights.

Good place to get away from it all. Very comfortable house. There are other houses nearby, but still very private. We liked that there is a king-sized bed in each of the bedrooms. It is a nice location for getting up to Paradise.

The place is very close to Mt. Rainier park entrance. It's a private place off the main road. The size is just right for two couples or four adults.

The host(s) were amazing communicators - quick responses and flexible. The tips to download/screenshot directions as well as buy groceries before arriving were so appreciated and helpful. The location was perfect! Oh, and the hot tub -- really great after hiking!

Overall, a great location for those looking to enjoy Mount Rainier National Park despite some amenities in need of attention. Beds were comfortable and spacious. Property was mostly private, with some noise from closely neighboring properties. Cookware was pretty comprehensive compared with other Airbnb experiences with grilling tools, bottle openers, a can opener, etc. However, the handful of dull knives and the single large pan to cook with left much to be desired (no amount of cooking spray or butter prevented food from sticking to that thing). Recommend you bring your own if planning to cook. I recommend that the host conducts an inspection between guests for the few callouts I had (e.g. ensure that showers drain properly, that lightbulbs are not burnt out, jacuzzi is clean, unload the dishwasher from the last guests, etc.) as small details like this would have really elevated my stay from average to excellent.

Super cute place with a GREAT hot tub! It definitely had more of a “hotel” than “home” feel, in the sense that you could call them for things you need but none of it was already available at the house. So I’d recommend bringing essentials like throw blankets and detergent; the hosts were very responsive and were willing to bring anything we needed, as they live close, I just prefer it all be available from the beginning without having to ask.

Getting around

Roads are paved. Last stop for fuel is in Ashford. Winters are mild, but we can occasionally have a few feet of snow. In this case, we strongly recommend a 4x4 vehicle, and if not, tire chains and skill to properly use them.
