The Barn is a beautifully restored cottage in the New Forest. You will love staying here for a romantic getaway or for a relaxing holiday for two. Cosy up in front of the fire after enjoying long walks or cycle rides in the Forest or visiting one of the quaint Forest villages. If you do not fancy heading out for dinner, you can enjoy cooking in the spacious kitchen. You will love the beautiful mezzanine bedroom, which is accessed by a stunning spiral staircase, and the luxury bathroom.
Nestled in the ancient North Ridge of The New Forest National Park, The Barn at High Forest Cottages provides a peaceful hideway to relax and enjoy the unique beauty of the forest.
Situated within the forest boundary, inside the cattle grid areas, our regular visitors include the famous ponies and cattle that make the forest such a stunning wildlife environment. Whilst deer are a rare sight, we often welcome a small herd into the paddocks, to enjoy some free grazing!
The Barn has been beautifully restored to provide an open plan living area with a mezzanine bedroom and bathroom, which is accessed by a stunning spiral staircase. The Barn has underfloor heating throughout and a cosy wood burning stove for chilly evenings.
The fabulous double height vaulted lounge with its character beams and fabulous double height windows make this a lovely space in which to relax. Heated by underfloor heating with the addition of a log burner, it is always cosy whatever the weather. A basket of wood and kindling is provided for you and you can top this up from the log store throughout your stay. The large Smart TV is connected to the free WiFi so you can log in to your own Netflix and Amazon accounts. A Blu-Ray player is also available if you fancy watching an old school movie.
The kitchen is well-equipped and you can easily cook a Sunday roast if you fancy. There are plenty of pans and dishes, a fan oven with grill and electric hob. The fridge has a small icebox and the dishwasher will take care of the washing up. Dishwasher tablets, as well as washing up liquid and tea towels, are available for your use. Milk, tea, sugar and ground coffee together with a cafetiere are provided so you can settle in as soon as you arrive.
The mezzanine bedroom, which is accessed by a beautiful spiral staircase, features a comfortable double bed (140*90cm), with luxury cotton sheets, a 10 tog microfibre duvet and four microfibre pillows. A dressing table with swivel mirror and hair dryer is situated at the end of the bed. With the bedroom in the eaves of this old Barn a low level hanging rail and hangers will provide space for you to hang your dresses, shirts and jackets.
The bathroom leads off the bedroom and is enclosed by a sliding door. It features a shower over the bath, towel rail, sink with mirror over and toilet. Lovely fluffy white towels and face cloths are provided for your stay. The underfloor heating ensures that little extra luxury during your stay.
A lovely patio garden, enclosed by a beech hedge is the perfect spot for a morning coffee or a lazy afternoon on the sun loungers. In the evenings you can light the BBQ for some alfresco dining and the outside lighting extends your evenings after sunset. Parking for two cars is available next to The Barn. The shared laundry with washing machine and dryer is available should you need it.
We are pretty much in the middle of nowhere, with only a small holding as neighbours. Cross the road and you will find open heathland, forested areas, small rivers and plenty of wildlife. There are lovely paths to explore for an early evening stroll or a proper hike. You can bring your bikes or hire them locally and explore the extensive off road cycle network in the Forest. Road cycling is very popular too and there are regular races held.
We welcome guests with dogs, please contact us if you would like to bring more than two. The additional fee for dogs is £20 per booking for up to two dogs. The following rules apply:

* please clean muddy paws after forest walks (please bring your own dog towels)
* dogs must be toileted outside our gates
* dogs under one year must be crated at night

Getting around
You are most likely driving to the accommodation, although a taxi from Salisbury, Brockenhurst or Southampton stations is an option. A popular option is to cycle from the property, so feel free to bring your bikes. Alternatively, you can hire bikes from a number of locations in and around the forest, and many will deliver to your property. And, of course, there is walking directly from your doorstep, with miles of forest and heath to explore.
