Richard's house is the most well-equipped Airbnb I've stayed at and a wonderful property overall. It is especially great for families- Richard has pool diapers, a closet of toys, high chair, pack and play, and even outlet covers, which were so helpful for traveling with toddlers. He has a ton of lawn games and seating nooks to enjoy the peaceful years. The house is down a small road around 35min to Monterey. Richard went above and beyond to let us check in early and had treats waiting for us at the house to celebrate a special occasion. Hope to go back and would highly recommend!

We had the best time at Richard and Susan's property! The house was beautifully furnished and amenities wise had everything we could have wanted and more. The kitchen was fully stocked and they even had marshmallows and skewers to make smores which was a highlight for our kids! The toy closet and board games were a big hit too. The pool was clean and heating instructions were easy to follow and we had the most relaxing time unwinding in the jacuzzi in the evenings after spending the day exploring. There were plenty of pool toys to keep the littles engaged! The fire table/firepit was an added bonus for cold evenings to have dinner by. Richard was extremely responsive whenever we reached out and was also accommodative of a flexible check-in time given we were traveling with a little one. Overall it was an extremely pleasant and memorable stay and we'd love to come back if we were to ever visit Monterey again! Richard and Susan are extremely gracious and thoughtful hosts! Kudos and TQ

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this incredible Airbnb, and I cannot rave enough about it from the moment we arrived, the owners went above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing short of perfect. Their communication was top-notch, always prompt and helpful, making us feel truly valued as guests. One of the highlights of this property is a fantastic array of outdoor games available including corn hole, ping-pong or ax throwing. there was never a dull moment and let’s not forget about the pool and sauna perfect way to relax and wind down after a day of fun in the sun. as if that wasn’t enough the surprise closet of toys was a delightful touch, especially for our small grandkids that made her even more special. It was clear that the owners had thought of every detail to ensure all ages had a memorable experience comfort level. The kitchen was well-stocked and had everything needed. We felt right at home from the moment we walked in.

Beautiful home, in a great location and exceptional hosts! Our family of four and grandparents stayed for a long weekend and couldn’t have had a better time. From the well appointed kitchen to the heated pool and spa, this space was perfect for a young family. There is a fun hatched game, tetherball and a variety outdoor of other games to keep everyone outside and enjoying the beautiful scenery. While you feel like you’re a million miles from everything, in reality, anything you need from grocery stores to restaurants are within 15 minutes of the house. Monterey and Santa Cruz are also just a quick drive away making the aquarium and boardwalk an easy day trip. Arguably the best Airbnb experience we’ve had and we look forward to coming back!

This place was a win. While making an impromptu decision to get out of town for my wife's birthday weekend and a three day weekend for our 8 year old daughter, we landed here. A 30+ minute drive to Monterey Aquarium, 2 minutes to the Elkhorn Slough Estuary , and a short drive off highway 101. But why leave the house? Hot tub, a heated(ish) lap swimming pool, ping pong, axe toss, tetherball, bag toss (corn hole ), board games galore and a Nintendo Wii ton start. Not to mention a clean and welcoming environment. Communications with the host was over the top with quick responses and ready to help at every turn. 2 nights was not enough time!!!

Response:Thank you so much for the kind review. Yes, the pool was a bit of an issue. I really appreciate you bearing with it. This is the first winter that we've offered heat for the pool during the coldest months and ws just didn't realize how much heat the pool would lose overnight when temps dropped to the mid 30's. Next year, we will warn guests when the weather looks iffy. Thank you again for staying. It was our pleasure hosting you.

We spent an amazing long weekend in January. We traveled with two kids - 3 and 6. Kids very much enjoyed the pool (it got heated very well - enough for them to stay in it for 2h+ :) ). Richard was super flexible, welcoming, and was helping us with all we need.

Incredible spot right between Monterey and Santa Cruz. Richard and Susan’s home was perfect for our family trip - it was very well stocked from the kitchen supplies to the pool toys to everything our kids needed to have fun as well as sleep. Our son loved all the outdoor games (plastic axe throwing, tether ball, ping pong, and cornhole) and we had a great night making smores at the fire pit. We used the heated pool and hot tub almost every night. The location made our day trips to the Monterey Bay Aquarium (thanks for the two guest passes!), Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Monterey Zoo, and Roaring Camp Railroads super easy and convenient. Richard and Susan were extremely responsive and provided clear timely instructions - check-in and out was super simple which we really appreciate with two young kids. We would absolutely recommend staying here if you’re looking for something secluded but still close enough to both Monterey and Santa Cruz.

My wife and I are retired. We like taking our dog, Birch, to off leash dog parks. We also like spending time with family and friends and watching sci-fi shows.

We were surprised to find out how much we enjoy hosting and how gratifying it is to help people really enjoy themselves.

Minimum age limit for renters: 25
Maximum occupancy: 8
House Rules
The following rules are in place to maintain your safety, protect the property, and to help you know what short term rental rules the county enforces. CHECK-IN * The Short-Term Rental rules in Monterey County require that we have the name of each guest and a copy of each guest's government issued identification. Even though we have completely private parking, the license plate number of each guest's car is also required before check-in. * Unregistered guests or visitors are not allowed. The maximum property capacity is 8 people. DURING YOUR STAY * Guests must park inside of the fenced/gated area on the large asphalt parking pad, not outside the fence on the street. * Click the gate closed after you enter or exit. * Quiet hours begin at 7:00 pm (county rules). Sound carries far here in the country (even people's normal voices) so please be courteous and mindful of your noise levels outside at all hours. * No glass is to be taken out onto the pool deck or into the pool or spa. We have supplied plastic drinking glasses for your use. * Wet concrete gets slippery. Be careful and don't run on the pool deck. * No diving into the pool; it is only 4.5 feet deep. * Please dry off completely before coming into the house after using the pool or spa. * Wet pool towels can be hung up outside over the patio furniture or in the bathrooms. *Please lower all outdoor umbrellas after using. The afternoon winds off the ocean can pick them up and toss them around. * No candles may be lighted on the property. We have supplied battery-powered flicker “candles” for you to use inside and out. The pool lights will provide soft light on the pool deck in the evening. * Nothing, absolutely nothing, can go into the toilets or drains except bath/dish water, human waste and septic safe toilet paper. Please let us know if you are running low on TP. * Do not change or alter the door locks. * Do not rearrange the furnishings in the house. * Let us know right away if anything in the house needs replacement or adjustment or if you are in danger of running out of TP (we have septic-safe TP). * Do not adjust or change the aim of the camera at the front gate. The camera records and stores video images of the driveway entrance area just outside of the gate (at the road). It will record images and sound of cars and people entering or existing the property or leaving packages outside of the gate 24 hours a day throughout your stay. * Do not unplug or otherwise unable the Wi-Fi router. Because some home safety systems depend on WIFI access turning off or unplugging the router will result in an immediate termination of your reservation. You will also be charged software and hardware re-connect fees. * Dogs are not allowed on uncovered furniture or beds. Cleaning their hair off of the furniture is difficult and results in additional cleaning costs. There are several furniture covers and dog blankets in the linen closet in the hall bathroom for your use. *Dogs are not allowed in the pool or jacuzzi. Extra pool sanitation and filter cleaning fees will be charged if dog hair is found in the pool, jacuzzi or filters. *Dogs are not to be left unattended. We highly recommend Dogwood Boarding/Daycare at 10385 Reese Circle Salinas, CA 93907. There are also several local pet sitters on Rover. * Cats are not allowed on property. Owner is highly allergic. * No eating or drinking in bedrooms. Please enjoy your meal in the dining room or at the breakfast bar. * No smoking or vaping inside of the house. No incense, herbs or essential oils. An additional $250 cleaning fee will be accessed if house smells of tobacco, marijuana or strong odors. Cigarette butts must be disposed of in the covered ashtray provided on the pool deck or near the shed. Do not put cigarettes' out on ground or toss them into the rocks or landscape. * No parties or events. * Do not attempt to adjust the pool controls. They are automated. You may use the tablet in the kitchen to adjust the jacuzzi or turn it on and off. * Please let us know right away about any damage or breakage and make arrangements to replace or reimburse us for the cost to replace or repair the item. * Garbage cans are located on a cement pad near the gate on the pool side of the driveway. Trash goes into the black can. Recycle items must be loosely placed (not inside of a bag) in the blue can. The trash company charges hefty fines for recycling item that are inside of bags. FOR CHECKOUT * Because you are on vacation, we do not want you to stress, but it really helps when guests rinse off and load dirty dishes into the dishwasher. It would also be great if you take out your own garbage. * You can place your used towels in the tub, shower, laundry room or leave them on bathroom floor, but please don't leave anything wet on the hardwood floors. * Leave one gate remote on the entryway table when you check out. * Double check for personal items. * Lock the doors and close the gate behind you when you leave. ***IMPORTANT***Please make sure that you leave the Aquarium Guest Passes and the gate remotes on the entryway table. No parties or eventsCheck-in is anytime after 4:00 PM

Refundable Damage Deposit
We require a signed credit card preauthorization form be executed prior to check-in.
Cancellation Policy
50% refund up up to 7 days prior to check-in except fees.
Notes
* The pool and spa are not fenced off from the house. We provide pool and door alarms, and free solar heat for the pool April 15 to October 15. With solar, the pool generally stays in the mid 80's. Pool heat fees for October 16th to April 14th are $50per day with a four day minimum (the heat pump is less efficient during colder weather).

* The hot tub is set at 102 degrees and to automatically come on in the late afternoon/evening. You may adjust the time and temperature.

* This is a rural area. We have a few neighbors that are not able to take care of their homes. All are seniors. The neighborhood is safe, but their houses, near the bottom of the hill, are in disrepair.

* To ensure you have a wonderful stay, we’ve equipped this home with a Minut sensor. It monitors noise, occupancy, temperature and humidity, helping us keep our home and our neighborhood safe, healthy and comfortable 24 hours a day. As we respect your privacy, we chose a device that is 100% privacy-safe. Minut is camera-free and doesn’t record any sounds, images or personal data, so you can rest assured that you’re not being watched and make yourself at home!

* For safety and Securrity, we have a camera inside of the garage that records video and audio images inside of the locked garage 24 hours a day. And, an additional camera at the gate aimed towards the road which also records audio and visual images 24 hours a day.

*Due to safety and security concerns, as well as a potential County Noise Ordinance property violation, tampering with the Minut monitoring system, or disabling any featurs of the Wi-Fi router or gate camera will result in an immediate eviction and a $1000 fine.

* Smoking is only allowed outside and cigarettes must be disposed of only in the covered ashtrays on the pool deck or near the driveway shed.

* There are many places to sit and enjoy the serene view or play outdoor games on the property, but the ground in the field (the area beyond the hedge, bushes and trees surrounding the house) is very uneven and full of gopher holes. The gophers and moles have also wreaked havoc on the backyard this summer so please be careful there too.

*We welcome well behaved dogs but ask that you use the furniture covers that are provided. Cats are not allowed as owners help clean the home and one is highly allergic to cats.

*Maintenance workers, the garbage man, and the pool cleaner come during the week to take care of the grounds, trash, pool and hot tub.

* Bi-monthly cleaning is required for long term stays. A credit report, background check and security deposit is also required for stays over 28 days.
