We live and work in the hustle and bustle of the D.C. metro area and had always enjoyed visiting the Outer Banks with its eclectic mix of activities ranging from familiar to unique, usually staying in hotels due to time and budget constraints. When the opportunity arose for us to purchase a classic beachbox in need of some TLC, we jumped at the opportunity to own a "bit of the beach" and to share it with others so that they can experience a piece of the magic that is the heart of the Outer Banks.

Proximity to the beach was outstanding! The place is a little dated, but absolutely livable and fulfilled everything we needed; everything worked well and was clean. Living and sleeping areas were very nice. Surrounding amenities were great and checkin and out was super simple. We brought two dogs and Jennifer and Adam were more than accommodating towards them. Their pet fee is among the most reasonable I've seen on AirBnB. Overall I would definitely recommend this place to others!

For a convenient walk to the beach and pets allowed this place was just right. There is plenty of sleeping space and the roku TVs are a nice feature. The cottage is a little dated and showing it’s age in places. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay.

Highly disappointed!
Needs work items:. I wish I could share photos because it's just hard to believe especially in the times of covid we had this experience. Additionally, we tried to be understanding that the owners rely on a service to maintain their home for guests. When we arrived, it was evident the company did not take care of the home. There was sand everywhere!!! The refrigerator, the freezer, the showers and even in the sheets of 3 of the beds. The floors were disguising. We needed to clean the kitchen, bathrooms (the shower near the master bedroom was never used by us because of all the hair and sand in it), vacuum, sweep (had to go buy a broom) and mop the floors to start our stay.
We reached out to host, they sent the cleaning crew back while we were at the beach (had no idea they were coming) ... But NOTHING was cleaned in addition to what we cleaned. Sheets weren't changed, showers still full of filth, etc
During our stay the air conditioning unit broke down 2x. The first time we checked the vent (because a blocked vent can cause the ac to act up) and there was over 1 inch thick hair and dust built up on the filter.
The second time the ac broke down we were told they would call someone and try to get them out there the next day.. It was already 80 in the house at this point. The owner said someone would come that evening... Didn't get a call back until 1130 that night, guy came the next day.
Roaches, yup... Roaches. The 2nd night the ac broke we were sitting at the table playing cards. Got up to get some thing to drink and there's a huge roach in the middle of the floor. Ran over to get a paper towel and there's another in the sink. I sent a photo to the owner and got no response. This was the final straw. When he called the next day about the ac guy coming I asked about the roach situation. He freaked out and said he knew nothing about the roaches. I sent another photo... No response.
Oh... Also, no beach towels as stated in listing when we booked and the Netflix didn't work because it was being used in too many locations. Never addressed the Netflix because it just wasn't worth it.
Due to all the issues, we have reached out to both Airbnb and the owner because we feel strongly that a partial (50%) refund would be appropriate because we truly could not relax on our vacation. It was just one thing after another. No response from owner, Airbnb says hands are tied. If I were the owner, the tenant wouldn't have even had to ask for such accommodations. It's not like we reached out the last day... Within minutes of walking through the door we were in contact, each time something came up.. In contact!

Excellent location and easy walk to the beach! We enjoyed the large living room/dining/kitchen which gave us ample space to gather. An added bonus was the four TV's when our adult kids wanted to be alone. We enjoyed the large deck in the evening.

Nice sized house with plenty of seating area for our group of 7 in the main area which is an open living room/dining room/kitchen. The porch is nice and big too. The house is a short, flat walk to the beach that allows dogs after 6pm. We loved taking the dogs and some chairs and beers to the beach at night and watching the sunset and listening to the waves. What a great time! Had limited towels but someone dropped them off quickly which we appreciated.
No beach accessories offered, but we brought our own. Would stay again for sure- was a relaxing week.

Being our first Airbnb house, I can say this was a true pleasure to stay at. You couldn't ask for a cleaner house on arrival. The towels that were left for us were super soft and clean, and so were the sheets and beds.
The house is located very conveniently to many things to do, and just a short stroll to the beach access. Parking under the house was a little tight for my big Z71 truck, so be aware of that when deciding what car to take with you. Also the neighbors are very nice and were never loud in the least.
The house was very nicely decorated and great for our family of 5. All the kids got to choose their own room which was a real joy for them. It's not something they can do at home. The outdoor shower (which had both hot and cold water) and clothesline was also very nice and convenient when coming back from the beach.
The house also included a TCL Smart TV in every room except the bunk-bed room, which was a really nice touch. The sound machines in each room were also very helpful. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were a little too flat for my personal liking in the master bedroom, so you may want to consider bringing your own from home.
I would suggest to future stayers though, as a bit of advice, to bring empty plastic food containers (if you are the type to cook at home as we did). After cooking at the house, we quickly learned that we didn't have any way to store leftovers for the next day. The pots and pans that were included at the house are a mixed bag of things, which was okay, but it may limit what you plan to cook. Also, Publix was very close by, but be ware that prices are much higher on OBX than what you normally see if you live in the inland area of NC.
We very much enjoyed our stay here, and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in the area. We look forward to another stay here in the future. These are great hosts!

Clean, basic, close to the beach- wonderful place to rent for a few days! BYO everything beach, no beach accessories, toys, boogie boards, bikes etc provided.

We had a great time in OBX and loved the location of the house. We brought our beach wagon along which made taking our belongings to the beach a breeze. If you have a portable hammock bring it- our kids loved setting it up under the house. The outdoor shower was a family favorite especially during a storm. Thanks again!
